Ive got a drinking problem
Your not alone in this situation, I too have the same problem. I've been trying to drink alot before I eat to see if that wets the whistle so to speak but there are times when I need a few sips...so I take them. I don't want to be in pain if something is having a hard time going down the tube...ya know? I think as long as it's not anything major but just to help with the food getting down, you'll be okay. Afterall, most doctors have no idea what it feels like to have had WLS so they may "think" it's best not to have a drink of water but in reality if it were them they'd be taking a few sips as well.
Take Care!

Elsa,
I sip with most of my meals. I do not drink 20 ounces of water with a meal but I may hve 2 or 3. In all the research I have done the most common reason for not drinking with meals is that you will be hungry b/c the fluid washes away the food. I say hogwash. What about soup? One other article I read referenced that drinking and eating could cause dumping. This is not the case for me. Eating a reeses pb cup doesn't even make me dump.
God Bless,
Jen
I am with you all.....my doctor says that drinking limits the ability to eat all the food you should at a meal - and that's not much. I find I get full faster if I sip and am hungry faster which validates his instructions. Sometimes I just cant drink for up to 90 minutes if I have eaten something dense like meat. In those cases I suck on a SF mint (altoids SF cinnamon) to wet my mouth, it really helps.
