Hi all, just wanted to share my lastest dilemma. I have stopped losing right now, matter of fact I have gained 2 pounds. I workout every morning. I get the water I need and protein. Maybe just need some encouraging words to help me thru this time. Sorry I havent posted lately. Been a little down about weight gain. Dont get me wrong I am very happy with losing 65 lbs since surgery but want to lose more. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance! Sue 242/177/???

The surgeon told me that I ever have a gain that is no more then 4 to 5 lbs, most likely it's all FLUID! Hopefully whatever your body is holding onto will release it soon so the scale starts gong in the opposite direction! [[HUGS]] Susan

I am with Susan... its just fluid retention, a scale difference due to the heat, or just a plain ol' fluke... You would have had to eat an EXCESS of 7000 calories to actually gain 2 real pounds. So, not only would you have had to eat whatever your body normally uses in a day, but then on top of that eat 7000 extra calories. Of course, you did not. Therefore, these are not real weight gain pounds. Sometimes my scale fluxuates, sometimes I will be lower one day, then higher the next. Sometimes I will stall, but when I sit there and think about actual calories in vs. calories out, I know that this will keep working. My body may be freaking out at the moment, trying to hold onto the weight, but eventually, so long as I follow my diet and plan, it will work. 65 pounds is a terrific start, and there is DEFINATELY more to follow!

Don't worry so much about it. It should be water retention. Sometimes your body stops and has to adjust before you start losing again. Hang in there! Karla

You know you just got some great encouraging words here from the other ladies!!! I don't have much to add except that I have gone thru the same thing and really that is all it is. I analyzed my food intake and know that there isn't a problem there, I have boosted my exercise and haven't seen much results, I just have to have faith that this stall will pass and I will start losing again. Depending on where you live, weather wise, if it's hot and you are drinking a lot of water and you have eaten something salty - well that can make you retain water like no other. Just keep doing what you do but me mindful of the salt intake, I think you will be back on track in no time! Dana

I am going through the same thing. It was my T.O.M. and I gained 5-6lbs. I am still water-logged and can feel it in my calves and can see it (pitting edema). It is very discouraging to see the scale go the wrong way, even though you know it cannot be fat. I'm on day 6 of my cycle and I haven't lost all the water weight....but it has gone down a couple of lbs, so now I'm *only* up 2-3lbs now. I was thinking that the weight loss (fat) would counteract the water gain...but maybe I'm plateauing. I just don't know. I will say that I have weighed myself less this past week out of sheer frustration...I just did not want to see those numbers. I did weigh myself this morning but I put the scale away again, for awhile at least. Hang in there... Chele

I'm going through the same thing!! I hate it .. I've been fluctuating between 180 and 178 for over a month.. It's very depressing..but We have to keep going soon or later the scale WILL move on the down side again... I'm sure it's water retention with the summer heat. don't let this get you down..keep on keepin on!!! We will get through this! Anna

Hey Sue, You are doing great. I would not worry about the 2 pounds. Is it near your time of the month? The week before I get mine I notice that I weigh more. As soon as my period is over, the weight goes too. And by the way, you are below my goal weight! Don't be discouraged! God Bless, Jen

Oh Sue, Please don't fret. It's probably water weight as the others have said and if it's hot where you live that can have an impact as well. Don't worry the weight will come off as long as you are using your tool. You know the routine......protien, water, excersise You will be just fine Regards and hugs, Ronna
