I think I'm getting senile in my old age. (or at least since my surgery). I decided to trying tanning today. I have a wedding to attend on Aug 18 and I refuse to wear panty hose--it just isn't gonna happen. I am sooooo pale. I was only in the bed for 5 minutes, but it was so relaxing. I wanted to sleep. The only problem is that my incision site is tight now. If any of you go to tanning beds,,do you cover your scar? Mine is really ugly and has keloids. I was hoping it would clear up a little with some color on it, but maybe I should cover it tommorow. My senility (or maybe it's just sheer happiness) has also included me doing water aerobics, working out at a gym, and walking. I can't believe how much better I feel already. Life is good! Kathy

I don't do the tanning thing. I use the Jergen's lotion. It works great. I'm not into panty hose either. They are a torcher device invented by men. But I guess they are still better than the girdles and nylons of my early teenage years. Hazel

Hazel, I tried the Jergen's lotion, but it looked fake on me. Probably because I am so pale--I have almost no pigment in my skin. I'm hoping the tanning will help. You are soooo right abut the girdles & nylons. I remember those in high school...yuk. I was really happy when panty hose came along. You are absolutely right about a man inventing them..they are horrible to wear. Kathy

Kathy~ I go tanning once a week to help relax me and give me some "me" time. When I went back to tanning 2 months after surgery I talked to the owner and she told me to use chap stick on my incision. I have been able to tan and not burn on the incision and its not looking so bad now. I love the fact of tanning since now that when I lay in there nothing is touching the top, there is room between myself and the bed. Hope this info helps. If you have any other questions just let me know Sue

I go tanning 3 times a week and never covered my scars, you can't even see them now, my Stomach is all one color and nlends in well. I also think Tanner gives you a thinner look to yourself. Enjoy it, I do.

I tanned before and after surgery, and never had to put anything on my incision site. If you are concerned, I'm sure the salon will have some kind of SPF product you can put on it. Hope that helps! Susan

I have been tanning since around June 13, I'm leaving for vacation on July 14 and wanted to have a tan before I went to the beach. I burnt the first couple times but now am pretty dark. I don't put anything on my incisions and have no problems with them. Be careful though if you're naturally very pale you might not be able to tan. It definately is relaxing Keep on truckin!
