My Little Success

As I was reading all the posts today about WOW moments, I was so happy for all of you! I started out at size 32-34 and today tried on, and fit into nicely a size 22 pant and 18-20 top at Lane Bryant. Somehow this success seems pretty silly- it's where all of you started!! Down 104# s since Jan. I actually went to the mall and walked!! I had avoided that place for over 9 years. I can cross my legs, fit into booths, and don't notice people staring at me. My BP is normal and am over 1/2 way to my goal. Just my little successes. cj

Thats no little success... that is a WONDERFUL BIG SUCCESS! I too am a heavy weight... started out at 357, so I sometimes find myself laughing when I am excited to be where many started. But, I am still losing strong. You are doing TERRIFIC! Before you know it you wont be able to shop at LB anymore. Keep up the hard work hun. Take Care, Mary

OMG CJ... first off... WELCOME to our corner!!!! You have gone down a boat load of sizes girlfriend, congrats!!!!! I'm still in an 18/20 top, so don't fret I LOVE walking the mall. I had to buy a pair of black flip flops before work today and was able to hoof it down there, shop and hoof it back all in 13 minutes! lol Whooo hoooo! Your little successes are HUGE Milestones in my book!

Hey Carole, I'm in the same boat you are. I started out at 337, and am now down to 239. I'm like you in that, we may just now be getting to where some people started. As long as I eventually get there, I figure it doesn't matter. It will just take us 1 1/2 years, not 6-8 months to lose most of our excess weight. Keep up the good work. I'm not in tiny sizes yet, either. Hang in there. Karla

CJ, Why would you think those things are silly? This surgery is not just life changing, it's life saving. To be able to walk now when you couldn't before....to be able to move and fit into booths...think of the health benefits you have gained, particularly with lower BP! IMO, it's not about what size you are (though don't get me wrong, that is a nice side effect!)....it's about living longer and healthier. It's about being here for as long as possible for our families. I may be a size 18 or a size 8...either way, I'm reaping the benefits of losing the weight and adopting healthy eating and exercise habits...as this is for life. We all started this process by fighting with our insurance companies (well, some of us did...others were approved much easier...not to mention some of us who were self pays!) and it wasn't because we wanted to be tiny, skinny people. Ok, well yes we probably did ...but hopefully it wasn't the primary reason. I know for myself, I had finally gotten to the point in life that I had accepted myself completely at the size I was in terms of jean size! Though, I could NEVER accept the fact that I was putting my health at risk and on the road to dying far too young of a myriad of health problems. I am on a list where some of the members started off 500-600lbs. One woman lost half of her body weight and then stopped and has been unable to lose any more weight in spite of everything she has tried over the years. Yet, she has a marvelous attitude and she is more than pleased with her success (and she IS a success!)...because she says all the time how she wouldn't be here on Earth without this surgery. It saved her life! That is SUCCESS...and your success is HUGE to me! Chele
