Back Ache Anyone?
I just wanted to see if anyone else's back has been hurting any more than normal. I've been seeing my regular doc and the chiropractor for the last 6 or 8 weeks with very little resolution. With the weight loss, I expected my nagging backache to get better, but it's actually gotten worse. I am beginning to think that it might have something to do with all the extra skin I've got going on in the front now (belly apron and boobage are hangin low, low, low!).
Yall have always been good in letting me know that whatever I'm going thru is pretty normal, so I'm asking now -- anybody else suffering?
About 3 months back, I started to have pain in my tailbone area. I'm told it's because I've lost the "cushion" that I had back there. But boy is it "owey" if I sit down the wrong way. I injured it when I was a kid, falling down a flight of stairs and it was never the same again
I'm sorry you've haven't been able to get any relief but it may be your ticket to PS. Just make sure your get all this documented and also see if they will give you something for pain in the meantime.
Hope you feel better soon.
Sending hugs,
Ronna

Hi Ronna!
My back pain is more mid to upper back, like muscle fatigue, you know? I do get the lower tail bone pain, but it's nothing compared to the constant ache that I get higher up.
I have begun the documention, as per my insurance company. I was told to take pics, pay my co-pays and see the primary, no matter what, that the more medical documention I had, the better my chances of getting the insurance to cover the tuck. I am prone to rashes, but know how to take care of the skin, so I very rarely get them. However, I told my wonderful hubs that I was going to have to "force" a few just for the extra documentation. Only a former fat girl would think that way, right? LOL.
If I came out of this with just a little poochy, saggy belly, I could live with it. BUT that's not going to be the case. I'm only about 40 pounds away from my goal and it's very evident that the skin is just going to keep deflating and hanging down.
Now, the girls -- that's different matter. I'm getting them done no matter what, but I'm pretty sure there's no medical reason for the insurance to cover those, although I'm thinking that if it's deemed reconstructive, there's a slight chance. I've got the name of a good plastics doc here in our area and in another few months, I'll schedule the consult and see what I need to do.
They used to be large for my frame, but I'm afraid that my chest is in my drawers now, too. LOL. You know, it's funny, I read lots of profiles before surgery where the ladies tried to explain the sag as "deflated" or "empty skin" or worse yet, "airless balloons," but until it happens to you -- you really don't get it. I'm horrified sometimes when I look down at where my chest used to be.

Lisa,
I am having bad back pain too in my middle to upper back, I just figured it was due to work, but maybe I am wrong??? I don't have a lot of hanging skin but I do have the pooch that is deflating away. I wonder if this is the cause for my pain also. I hope it gets better for us, I feel like I need a serious adjustment to my back but don't want to spend the money on it. Let me know if you find something that helps.
Steph
Steph,
I have been seeing the chiro 3 times a week for nearly 8 weeks now and while it helps some, it doesn't alleviate the pain totally. And the adjustments aren't what really seems to work, it's the roller table (can't remember what it's called) and the deep tissue massage that they do that helps mostly. My insurance is covering the chiro visits, but I'm not sure how much longer I'll keep up with it since I believe it's a stop-gap measure.
Same thing applies -- LOL -- if you find something that works (other than the Lortab I take when it's BAD
) let me know.
Lisa

Thanks, Cathy, for the referral. I went and took a look at that post. I haven't ever had any back injury that I know of and I've had complete scans done between the chiro and the primary care, so those serious type issues don't seem to be the cause of my pain. I'm going to keep that in mind, though, the farther out I get without relief.
