Tailbone Pain

I've seen 'snipets' of posts on here about other having tailbone pain. I am suffering from it TERRIBLY. I talked to my surgeon about it and his comment was, "Don't worry about it - it's just 'lack of padding'". I've seen my chiropractor; but he hasn't been able to help much there either. Given I have a 'desk job', sitting is AWFUL. I try to get up every hour to walk around; but that doesn't help much. Am I the only one who has this pain or am I just 'a pain'? LOL Rose from PA

Rose I experience the same pain in my tailbone. It is due to lack of "padding". Guess it is better than that extra cushion we were carrying around.

Rose...girlfriend...I am WITH YOU! My heiny is KILLING me! I have been complaining about it a lot...and I, too, have a desk job. I had to drive over an hour the other day to pick up some puppies in a rescue effort and I was practically in tears by the time I got there! I know they say it is a lack of "padding" but I wonder if/when it stops! After all, I am sure skinny people do not have sore heinies all the time! Hope your pain is alleviated soon! Jersey

Count me in as a member of the sore hiney club. I didn't notice it until last week. I use an elyptical bike at the gym & I swore they changed the seat. I asked my trainer what was up with the new seat & he looked at me like I had 2 heads. I guess it's the same seat--just not so much padding on my hiney. I'm feeling it right now as I type this response. I wonder how thin people handle this. Kathy

Hi Rose! I have been suffering from the same thing, but I also find that my body goes through sore spots all over -- sometimes my hip bones will hurt or go numb if I sleep on them, sometimes the shoulder blades will ache, sometimes even that bone beneath my breasts (uh, the breast bone?). I was told that we would adjust and the pain would slack off. I was told to take Tylenol and use a heating pad when necessary for the tailbone pain. I'm just living with the rest until it slacks off.

when I went back to driving the truck I thought I was going to die!!!! My but hurt, it burned, stabbing pains. I tried all sorts of pillows and such, nothing worked. I still get it sometimes. I find tight pants make it worse, so I drive in sweats when I can. I broke my tailbone when I was giving birth to my son 22 years ago. I had forgotten about it until recently, because I can feel it for the first time in probubly 19 years. I haven't taken a bath yet (yes I shower hehehehe) I remember it hurting to sit on a hard tub surface back then. I love baths. Will see. So yes, there are others of us out there going thru this. I think mine is actually getting better. You might try one of the hemoroid donut pillows and see if that helps. I am thinking of getting one myself.

Me too Rose. I have to be very careful when I sit down or "Big Ouchy". I actually sit forward on my thighs when I'm sitting

Rose, Thank goodness you brought this up. I also have had a terrible problem with the tailbone pain. I thought, I was going crazy and this is the first time I have seen it on the post. I kept telling my husband something was not right. My surgeon also said, Don't worry about it; but it is hard not to worry when it hurts so much. Thanks girls for your post, you have eased my worry so much for now I know everyones rear is hurting! I am Normal with a sore tailbone and lots of hanging skin. Life is strange!!
