Hi everyone, hope everyone is doing well. Thouhgt i'd share a little piece of info I found out today. I had an eye exam today to get contacts, I wear glasses and they broke. And thought it would be cool to do contacts... anyway, i told the eye dr about by gastric bypass so she could do a thorough check of my eyes, just in case I had some vitamin deficiency that may effect my eye health. Well, the oposite happened and my eyes are better. Everytime i go in they are wrose a little, but they are actually betteR!!!!!!!!!! nOTHING HUGELY SIGNIFICANT, I STILL HAVE TO WEAR CONTACTS, but a little better anyway. Well, she told me she had several patients who had gastric bypass whose vision has improved a little. How cool!!!!!! who knew? Take care and lots of love... Christie

Woah that's incredible. I haven't had my eyes checked since a year before surgery so it will be interesting to find out if it's improved! Thanks for sharing that great information. Karen S.

I am due for my eye exam.... I have had the same experience in the past... I hope my diagnosis is similar to yours!!! At least this year I don't have to be so concerned with the effects of my diabetes... which is WAY in control. I will still have them dialate my pupils to be sure, but there is less concern... Praying for a good report like yours, Christie!!! Angela

How cool! It is amazing how much excess weight really plays a part in our overall health. I always felt realitvly healthy before WLS, but now that I know how it feels physically to be lighter, it is amazing. I just never knew any different. Well, glad to hear you are doing well!

The same thing happened to me several months ago. I went in because I thought my contacts weren't strong enough anymore in one eye. The optometrist thought his machine was broken, and said "nobody's eyes get better!", but mine did. I guess it's the diabetes disappearing. Lowering of blood sugar levels will improve eyesight. That's great for you Christie. Karla 337/221/150
