I have a new job!!!!!
I had two interviews this week & 2 job offers---yeah!!!! Of course, I had sent out about 15 resumes that I didn't get any response from. The first job that I was offered was as a part-time receptionist in a large insurance underwriters office. I asked if it would ever turn into full time & the woman went ballistic. I couldn't believe how nasty she was--needless to say I turned that job down.
Now---for my job--I'm going to be a collection recovery specialist for student loans. So if any of you have ever defaulted on a student loan (mostly Sallie Mae loans, but they do handle others as well) you may be talking to me.lol. Don't worry, I'll be nice & accommodating. I was a customer service rep for Verizon for 25 years and collection was a part of the job. It's never a pleasant job, but it's challenging. The pay isn't great, but I'll be getting a base salary plus bonuses for achieving collection goals. I'm really excited about going back into the workforce full time. I've worked part time at a veterinary clinic the past 4 years, but I was totally burned out from it. (the euthanasia aspect really got to me).
I start Sept. 5 so I may not be online alot anymore. Having the summer off has been the best thing that I ever did. I was able to take care of my weight loss needs, go to the gym, water aerobics, and shop when I wanted to. It's going to be bittersweet.
Sorry this is so long, but I'm really excited. Thanks for reading!!

Karyn,
I think that's how alot of people default. They are just not mature enough coming out of college. The big world is scary & trying to figure out how you're going to support yourself is a hard thing to do. I hope I can be a good collection agent and still be nice. If I can't, I will leave--it's just that simple..lol. In 30 years of customer service I don't think I ever raised my voice to anyone. I should get an Academy Award for my performances.

Jen,
I could never do that! I would probably offer to pay the loans myself instead..lol
This company (General Revenue Corp.) is a third party collections agency so I don't think they have authority to do anything like that. I was pretty good collecting past due accounts in my day, so hopefully I'm remember the secret to it.
Thanks for your response.
