Any accountants/tax people around?

Hi I was wondering if anyone is an accountant or tax prepare or just happens to know the answer to this question. My daughter is 18 and a full time student. I was under the impression that if they were full time students they were tax exempt! So I thought if she paid $450 federal...she would get it back. I did her taxes on the net and it says she is getting $257 for federal and has to pay $122 for state? Just wondering if this seems correct. ~~hugs and well wishes~~ Chris

Sounds like you are claiming her as a dependant so in this case. You are getting a $2500.00 tax credit on her behalf. If she claimed herself she would get everything back. Check the tax law because with that little income she might not even have to file taxes. Hugs, Anna

If she claims her income after paying back NY state she will still get back $135. I just thought I would check before I submitted it. I did claim her too so I get the good deal! ~~hugs and well wishes~~ Chris
