OB Appointment Scary Results
Hi Y'all,
So, I let my OB talk me into having this stupid quad screen done on Monday at my appointment along with all of my other blood work they were doing at the time.
Well, they call yesterday with the results of all the tests. They are going through the speal ... blah ... blah .. blah ... blah ... Down syndrome screen Positive. WHAT?????
Needless to say, I am thrown for a loop. My family has no histroy of mental retardation, I just turned 35 in December.
I go a week from Monday for another ultrasaound. This will be my 5th U/S. They have done head measurements and looked quite a bit at the heart in my other u/s - wouldn't something have show up?
If you would keep the baby (either Faith or Eric), me and my hubby in your prayers until I get to the doc and see what she has to say, I would appreciate it.
God Bless!
Jen
Hey Jen,
I remember when I heard similar words when I was preg with Kaden. It really scared me and I worried about it until I had the next ultrasound. In the end everything turned out fine. But I remember the dr. tell me that it is common to have a "higher blood count" the older you get. Didn't make sense to me then and don't make sense now.
I pray that everything will be fine and so will all of you. It's all in God's hands.

I am usually a lurker now because I don't have time to go home on a pc much less at work but Jen, let me say when I was pregnant with my son I had a stupid AFP test and I was told that my son came up positive for x-linked ichthiosis. Yeah, I was like what?! I went nuts looking at this on the net and literally cried cause it is ugly. Then I went to a specialist who asked me if dry skin ran in my family, particulary the guys and I said yes, then she said you also get false positives if you have dry skin that runs in your family. Needless to say AFP testings give out a false positive more times than not after about 20 ultrasounds my baby was a ok, just preemie and a little small, but now weighs 40 lbs and is so dang tall I think I am going to have a linebacker! So please don't be worried, you will be in our prayers. I have a wonderful, beautiful, handsome almost 3-year old. Good luck!

ps and as for ugly, I mean, webbed feet, and hands, crocodile skin, it is a very ugly and sad illness.
