New to this board,,,Have some questions

I am In the early process of getting testing for the Gas Bypass. I will be going for the endo January 6, 2006. I was reading on this matter and found out that if you have Thyroid problems that you will net be able to get the surgery. I am 239.6 BMI of 37.52 I also have several co morbids Respiratory Infuffciency (SOB) GERDS, Osto Aurth in Knees and Back ankles and feet. with these conditions does anyone know if the thyroid thing is true I have taken the medicine and was under a drs care for this and I never did get it under control, each month was a higher dose, and I stoped at 80mg Synthroid and never did get it under control. CAN ANY ONE HELP or have answers Thanking you in advance

I have had an Underactive Thyroid for about 4 years now and have been taking meds for it. My surgeon says he has had quite a few patients like me that after surgery "it may take a while" but theirs started working right again. Several of them are no longer taking meds. I also checked this out at support groups and got the same answers. My surgery is the 25th. Hope this helped some and Good Luck. Keep us informed. Doris

I have hypothyroidism and have been on 125mcg Levoxyl for at least 2-3 years on this same dose. My TSH has been in the normal range for a while now and my thyroid condition was never a disqualifier for the RNY surgery. Karen

Karen, I know the feeling on the anxiety level...its killing me You are a lot closer than I am done the Gi thing and now looking to the endo part I love your page it looks great How do you so that?
