when did you start losing your hair?
Deborah,
I have been losing hair since about a week after starting my liquid diet, which was around Nov 20th. It has slowed down now and the nutritionist said that when I get back to real food again after surgery it should stop and start growing back. She advised me to wait it out or if I wanted to I could buy some biotin and take it. I am taking a wait and see attitude.
Hope that helps

I had the same question and posted it on the boards for Dec and Nov patients.
There were a few common responses. Hair loss is an effect of anesthesia more than anything else. Something happens where it kills follicles and hair thinning can possibly occur three months out. It will grow back in a normal cycle (about 2-3 months, hair is always growing).
Also, hair thinning can occur from too little protein and vitamins. The suggestions were to get more protein and add biotin and flax to your diet, especially flax.
From my vegetarian days I learned a lot about flax and that its worthless if not stored/ingested properly. On this board I read about someone adding the liquid form to their shakes and it having a nutty flavor. Flax needs to be refrigerated in many cases. Ultimately, talk to the person at teh vitamin store about this and what product you're buying.
I am worried about this a bit, my hair is healthy and gorgeous. But alas, if a thin body means thin hair - so be it!
Hope this helps....
~Tiffany
