GOOD NEWS AND A LITTLE BAD NEWS
Well my friends, the good news is that I found out today I got my insurance approval. YEAHHHHH!!! Bad news is that my surgeon wants me on a liquid protien diet until my surgery on 1/24. She wants me to loose 20 lbs. in 10 days. Gaining 20 in 10 is a breeze, but loosing it??? I do get a repreive on Sunday because we have tickets to a dinner theatre. Otherwise I will be on liquids only for the next 10 days. OMG!!! How will I survive????? Did any of you have to do this? If so, got any tips for me. Already I am so hungry I could eat the arms and legs of a gorilla!

Hi Rosa,
I started my 2 weeks on Monday. I must tell you the truth, it has been a bit difficult. You definitely start to see just how strong your addiction/attachment to food really is.
My surgeon told me I need to lose 20 pounds by the 23rd... so here's hoping!
I have had a few hiccups as the previous post said... but all in all I think I am doing well. I am bloated from all of the liquid!
Just keep busy and pretend that you have already had the surgery! And also try to keep your mind focused on this : I have ate my fill and then some for the last (insert your age or number of years here) years, I can do this for 14 days to change my life!
If you have a hard time, email me or come on here and we can get through it together!!!
Hugs,
Cherise
Hi Suzie,
So far the only tip I have is to take it one hour at a time (or less). It was a very rough day because I was at a birthday party and there was lots of good food there. I am proud to say that I didn't eat a thing. Just sipped on my Isopure during the party. I tried to bribe the kids that I would give them a quarter for every meatball they brought me. As luck would have it, those big mouth adults told them "NO". Sometimes it's a b**** to be loved so much!
After a couple of hours, those little arms and legs started to look a bit tasty too. Their mean ole parents wouldn't let me have even a small nibble! Oh well, in hindsight that was probably a good thing. Don't mind me, I am emaciated and my brain cells are wasting away to nothing!
Enjoy your next 3 days!!!
Rosa

I just wanted to let you know . . . it can be done (at least in 2 weeks it can). My docs had me go on Slim Fast Optima 3-4 cans/day with the option of trading off 1 Slim Fast/day for a SMALL green salad with fat-free dressing after the 3rd day. I was amazed to find that I had lost 14 pounds in 8 days, and lost 19.7 by day 14. I was shocked!
As for how easy was it? Well I found out on a Tuesday morning that I had to start my 14 day pre-op prep on Wednesday. No time to prepare for my last meal! I will admit that the Slim Fast was a little difficult because it has a sweet taste, and I am a salty-sour person. I was on the diet over Christmas and New Years. That made it a real challenge. I was ready to spew the stuff until I stopped by the docs office and found out I had lost 14 pounds in 8 days, then I sailed through the next six. Hang in there!
I don't what type of surgery you are having, but I had the lap band and it was really not bad at all. I only had to take pain meds about 6 times, and have had no nausea. WARNING: Anesthesia, pain meds, immobility, and a significant change in dietary intake can and WILL cause constipation! That'a the only problem I have had.
Good luck!
Hi Donna,
I am having the laproscopic RNY if all goes well. I know that if I can loose these 20 lbs. before then, my liver will be smaller and the surgery should go better. I am not having fun though. At least tomorrow I can eat one meal. We have reservations to a dinner theatre, and the surgeon said it was ok to eat then, but to consider it my last meal. If you could do it over Christmas and New Years, I should be able to do it too. Thanks for the encouragement!
Rosa
