Post Op day 3-4
Greetings to all,
Its day 3 post op and it still seems surreal. When I got home and walked thru my back yard gate that was the most emotional point, I knew I had not died and was moving forward.
Its been a good experience so far but I am definately keeping on the pain meds for awhile. Today I awoke and plan to venture outside. Walking is key, I get up every 4 hours in the night for my meds and to pace. Sleeping is also key
and I have a few naps per day. Getting out of bed was hard at first but now I can do it all by myself.
I am surprised that some of you are eating post op, food is the farthest thing from my mind. I am having diluted juice, water and some tea.
I wont have any soft foods until 9 days post op.
Gas was a problem, after some milk of magnesia I am 'moving' and much better.
The #1 suggestion that has worked for me came from this site and is worth repeating - tongs. Yes, post op you wont be able to bend or twist and that's a key part of using the loo. The tongs allow you to attend to your private parts without the humiliation of someone doing it for you or a drip dry approach. When I first read that suggestion I kinda laughed but immediately remembered it when I could not reach....whomever posted it gets the biggest gold star because I'd be miserable without it.
Overall my spirits are good, the water is going down and I am quite pleased with the results of this week.
Plus my girlfriend whose staying with my completely cleaned out my fridge and completed the cabinets. All my visitors leave happy with a goodie bag of 'something'
My thoughts are with you all.

Tiffany,
I am so glad to hear that you are doing good. Tongs huh I had to reread that but will definiatley tuck that one away. LOL My fear is not being able to get into my own bed. I have a poster bed with a double pillow top and box spring which makes it hard to just get into. I have to give myself a lift to get in know but it is so comfortable. Thinking about sleeping in my daughters bed for the 1st week, twin bed close to the floor. (Just incase I fall out)
unfortunatley, I cant clean the cabinets out cuz the reat of the family needs to eat. So I did make 1 section mine and I am stocking it full. I cant believe that we are here some already have gone and the rest of us still waiting.
Take care and update more when you can.

Hi! Glad you are back and doing well.
I had purchased a "Bottom Buddy" for post op, but when I found myself alone on the 3rd floor(everyone was on the 1st), I was stranded on the
. I looked around and was desperate....when my eyes landed on (OH NO>>>DON'T SAY IT) my mom's CURLING IRON!!!! Yep! It did the job!
I later made sure I had my Buttom Buddy and used it maybe 2x. Then I was fine. Some of you may need more help with this scenario. I got my Buddy from www.lifewithease.com I'm sure tongs do a fine job too; I personally liked the arched handle and the "design" helped to 'get the job done right'.
I smile everytime I look at my mom's curling iron! (and, yes, she was the first person I told!)
