Hi All - 1 week before my Surgery
Thanks for the invites, I am not new to bulletin boards, but this one is setup a bit differently than most, kind spread out everywhere.. I can't figure out why my photo is not displaying in the posts. Any case, thanks for your support especially Barb. I kind feel alone in this because just about every person I know is much smaller than me.... take that back, I don't know anyone larger than me at 290lbs... so as you can imagine the people I know have no idea what people like us deal with on a Daily basis so the surgery news to them felt a little condescending... like.. "oh ok" then changing the subject all together. I guess I don't really care because I am doing this for me. The reality has not kicked in for me yet.. It has been pretty event free for the most part ... My Anthem insurance denied me which I was planning on self pay if they did.. it sucks, but I have finally decided to take control of this problem. I can see if you are dependent on insurance that it must be awful to have to wait indefinably while some insurance claims jerks in a room decide your fate. I was planning on buying a new truck this year so I figured I could live without that and financed my surgery instead. Good luck to everyone and keep me in your mind at around 11AM on the 27th! Welcome Jason,
I, too, am self pay since my husband's insurance policy contains an exclusion for anything related to WLS. And, like you, am kind of happy that I have been able to focus my attention on getting ready for surgery and not whether these stupid insurance companies are going to come through or not. Don't get me wrong, I'd love it if I didn't have to pay this money, especially since I pay insurance premiums, but I knew what I was in for when I started this.
This board is awesome--filled with so many wonderful people. You'll get lots of support before and after your surgery. Keep us posted on your progress. We'll definitely keep you in our thoughts.
Lisa
