36 hours post op

I can't believe, after all the waiting and worrying, I am post op. It's a miracle. Everything went really well, in fact I have already been discharged from the hospital. Just got back to the hotel avout an hour ago. I am a little uncomfortable, not bad though. Surprising as it sounds, my tummy hurts a little, but I am thrilled to be out of the hospital and up and moving around. Of course it's only been 36 hours so I can't say that I have lost anything yet, but hopefully soon. I am just so thankful that everything went smoothly and that I am now on the losing side. It is such a relief, of course not that I am here it'****ting me full force all that I can't eat and all that I have to do to make the successful. I walked into the hotel room and saw a jar of roasted peanuts, boy they looked so good. I haven't eaten real food since tuesday. Although my protein shakes believe it or not are pretty tasty. Thank you all so much for your prayers and well wishes. And for all of those still working their way to their surgery date or post op like myself, I truly hope that this recovery is easy for all of us. My prayers and thanks to everyone.

Hi Jessica, I am glad to hear you did so well, remember to get plenty of rest and sip, sip, sip. I will be joining the losing team on Monday and can't wait to get it over with! Please keep in touch and let us know how you are doing. Blessings, Rebecca

Thanks for the wishes. It is funny, drinking my water and getting my protein, I am now forcing myself to eat 24/7 it feels like. Seems funny since I needed to stop eating to lose weight. But it's all baby sips, take a long time just to drink 16 ounces. Good luck on Monday. I pray that it all goes smoothly for you.

I had a vertical gastrectomy, laporscopically. It's a relatively new procedure and my understanding is that not a lot of surgeons do it yet. It is similar to a roux en y I believe, but there is no by pass of intestines and the stomach is longer and 3 ounces. Hopefully it'll be a fast recovery. It's relatively painful at the moment, but gotta love them drugs. Thanks for the wishes.

Yeah...we made it to the other side!! How is your recovery going? Are you up and moving around? I am trying my best although it's difficult at times. I'm not sure how I am going to get all my fluids and protein in. How are you doing on it??
