All people with 1/16 surgeries, did you make it home safe and sound ?? We gotta support the next big group going in for surgery Monday!! I made it thru with only a couple of minor complications. How didi you fair?? My hand-assisted lap ended up open but that was all for the best. "Sweet 16ers", remember to sip, walk and follow the rules!! Patty

Hi Patty! My surgery went well, also. Had quite a bit of pain the first day and lots of nausea coming out of the anesthesia and then from the morphine. That was really the only "problem", other than my white blood count went up rather high and they couldn't figure out why.... a chest xray confirmed I did not have pneumonia and my blood work showed no sign of infection. Eventually the count went back down to normal and they discharged me on my 5th day. I don't know if I can "trust" my home scales, but so far they say I've lost close to 10 pounds in less than a week! (I think I want to buy a new scale!) Have been trying to be really careful and stick to the food plan I was given for the first 3 weeks. The Carnation Instant Breakfast (Milk Chocolate flavour) mixed with 1 percent milk and my Isopure protein powder (vanilla) is quite tasty and is helping me get in my protein for the day. Had some creamy mashed potatoes last night that settled a bit "hard" in my stomach.... almost thought I was dumping. Jeff and I went for a nice walk to the corner and back last night... walking at a nice leisurely pace. The air was cool and the company was wonderful. It is still rather surreal that I actually HAD the surgery! I kept waiting for someone to say "psyche! we were just kidding!" But it is my reality now and, like you, I want to adhear to what I've been taught about living a whole new lifestyle in order to be healthier. I've got to say, though..... there are a LOT of food commercials on television! Kind of makes me mad! Glad to see your doing well! ~Teri~

I got home on Wednesday and returned Wednesday evening because I could not control vomiting. I'm really sore, but doing ok. I've already lost about 16 pounds, although I am sure it is mostly fluids. Yesterday was tough, but I'm already beginning to feel quite a bit better today. I'm being really careful and sticking mostly to protein drinks after all the vomiting and naseau. Everyone suggested rest and it seems to help the most. I can only seem to sleep an hour at a time and need to roll to a different position, but the hours do add up. Thanks to everyone for their support over the last several tough days. Sharon
