Hi my name is Elizabeth and I'm a scale ***** lol i have lost 30 lbs and have been at a stand still for almost a week. It's driving me bonkers. I need to just throw out my scale. I wind up on it multiple times a day. somedays I gain weight and that really gets too me. You are not alone. I posted about this on the main board today and its very common to get stuck at around this point. I go for my follow-up tomorrow. Hopefully all will go well. Hang in there! We are all in the same boat. Its great to have such support from people who are going through the exact same thing. Elizabeth

I have been stepping on the scale at least daily at home but I do not fret about what I see because I know weight loss is inevitable since the RNY. My official pre-op weight (surgeon's) for me was 286. I gained a little over 10 pounds in the hopstial from the IV fluids during and after the surgery. When I weighed in at my one week appointment yesterday---I weighted 280 (with the abdominal drain still in). So that is either 6 or 16 pounds lost - depending how you look at it. My scale at home (which is calibrated to be very near or at my surgeon's scale) had me at 279 yesterday and today it was 271---- 8 pounds in one day! I think that may have been because I got the drain removed yesterday and I had been a bit "anally retentive" for several days but got loads of that gone yesterday afternoon. Sorry if that's TMI. I can wait until I can bend down comfortably and give myself a pedicure. My callouses on my feet are extrememly rough. I should have attended to them pre-op but didn't think about not being able to bend over. I had a "professional pedicure" once but I did not find it relaxing----had to position my foot/leg at all sorts of angles and the technician was using a razor shaver to get off the think callus. I haven't had a skin issue at this point. Frankly 40 or even 64 ounces of fluid a day is WAY more than my average intake post-op. My max then was probably about 30-40. I did have some peeling on my stomach area but my surgeon told me yesterday they put some surgical glue on some of my incision areas (while the others had sterostrips). So I attribute it to the glue. Everyone, thank you for your posts... Here are some answers!! I went to the nutritionist and she was as helpful as.... well anyway, here is what is going on. The plateau is your body trying to decide if it's going to stay at this level or is it truly starving. By two weeks you are starting to increase to your full protein and water, and by doing that you are finally increasing calories. Your body is trying to process whether this is a binge or a long term thing. So it is storing everything it can at this point. Hint: get in a few more calories. I was told as long as I don't go over 700 I'm good. I only pulled in 333 Calories yesterday. Also, I just lost a pound!!!!! The skin item. I wasn't referring to the scaly skin. That I understand. It's the skin that comes off where the most fat is. It rolls off in little pieces like a dirty arm. And that is simply new tighter skin trying to take over. It's healthier and a little more firmer. Best thing is to shower at night to get all the burned off skin Make sure you keep using firming lotion on your new skin to keep it healthy and firm. So that is what I learned. Thanks for your help. ::hugs:: Cyndi
