Back on the living side!
Boy! REading a week's worth of post's takes a long time! One week out and I'm preparing for the new life. You guys are sounding soooo lucky. I didn't know what day it was until Sunday (surgery wed 18th) probably because of the morophine pump. I got to come home with a lovely tube that the surgeon said will stay in for 6--count them SIX--weeks. I have a stomach that Frankenstien would be proud of with all them staples. And one week out, I've only lost 4 pounds! And I've eaten nothing! They let me out of the hospital Mon evening after trying to get me to eat pureed meat and vegetable and cottage cheese for three days--and yellow jello. None of it sparked any appetite. I ate maybe two tbls of pureeed fruit each day and a few sips of juice. Don't know what I was getting rid of in the bathrooom since nothing was going in! I still hurt bad enough to take the pain pills, although I am down to one at a time now. I'd laugh if it didn't hurt so much ! But I keep a pillow close by--so the puppies don't jump on my stomach again! OUCH! As far as eating and drinking--it hurts to drink but I can tolerate small amounts of egg, graham cracker and yogurt. The first night in the recliner almost did me in so I moved on up the the bed on the second floor. With a pile of pillows under my head and knees--and one over the stomach, of course--I can get a little sleep. The pills haven't bugged me too much. Take the B-12 first then the children's vitamin to wash out the taste followed by the Tums. Havent dared the iron yet. maybe tomorrow. I'd be walking up and down the driveway if the weather hadn't turned so cold the warden's wont let me out of the house!
Gee whiz! Isn't it great to be back on the living side!
It sure feels great
De! Welcome home and glad to see you have joined us on the losing side!!! One thing I tried tonight that was so awesome was instant potatoes! they stayed down and made me really full. If I could I would send you the beautiful weather we are having. Tomorrow they are talking 50 here in Minnesota in January!!!! Totally unheard of for Minnesota!!! Best wishes to you!!!

I am jealous you are already getting pureed meat and cottage cheese. I would die for something with that kind of consistency. I have been on strict liquids for the last week, I am dying for the 1st to come around so I can go on soft foods and have some cottage cheese, my doctor says only something that can go easily through a straw until then.
Welcome back and good to hear you're doing well!!
Separate the vitamins from your tums, the minerals in the vitamins will block absorbtion of the calcium in your tums, take at least 90 minutes apart.
And be careful with the puppies....i know someone whose work was blown out by a zealous puppy who jumped on her tummy 9 days out!! I had to send mine on vacation, he's a 115lb black lab and there's no way I could handle him on my own. I miss him horribly - its been 2 weeks - and he comes home this weekend.
All the best!!
