hi all
hello everyone
i just wanted to update you all on my progress. i started 4 mths before pre op weighing 514 lbs just before surgery i got down to 455 lbs i now weigh 434lbs and i am just 16 days post op. what a great feeling the only thing is the pain i have in my left side hurts so bad when i move. i spoke to the dr office and they said it was normal it is the nerves that are healing. they put me on a liquid pain med that taste like cough medicine if you ask me but it helps. so i am on my way to my goal weight of 230 lbs and feeling better every day it's hard to Believe that 35 lbs from know i will be under 400 lbs a weight that i have not seen since my late teens.

Hi Dave,
I was thinking about you, glad to hear your doing so well.
Sounds like you are on the road to recovery. Keep on sipping & walking.
I've been doing good, already down 32 pounds from 262. I can't believe how quickly the weight just seems to fall off. I'm going to need some new clothes soon.
Keep up the good work & keep us posted.
Carly
David,
That is such fantastic news! My left side has been rather sore, too. I guess it's because that is where the largest camera was inserted (or so I'm told). I was given a prescription for liquid Vicodin when I left the hosptial, but only used it once when I couldn't sleep. It tastes absolutely HORRIBLE! Other than the soreness, not much else to complain about. This is my 10th day post-op and so far I've lost just about 15 pounds! My follow up appointment is next Thursday and I'm hoping to have lost 20 pounds by then. We'll see....
So glad to hear you are doing well. Before you know it, you'll be under 400 and sliding down to your ultimate goal weight!
Bye for now!

It's about time you got back into the "post" of things. I was going to have to get in my magic airplane and come kick your butt. I am really happy to hear that things are going well.
I too got that same "cough medicine" but I tell you what, it WORKS!!! You are jammin in your weight loss and I am so proud of you for dropping 60 pounds before you even got started wiht the surgery, that is awesome. Your Doc must have been proud too.
I hope to hear form you a little more often. I know you don't have to go back to work for a while so don't be a stranger.

Hey Dave,
I am right on track with you. I have also lost 21lbs since surgery. (lost 11 just before surgery) I am weighing now what I weighed about 2-3 years ago. Another 20 or so and I should fit in my wedding dress again! (7 years ago) Once I get past that I will be smaller than when my husband met me, so that reaction will be interesting.
I too had pain more in my left side than anywhere since this weekend through yesterday. I went walking on the beach this past Sat and Sun and was bending over alot picking up shells and think I over-did it a bit. That's also what the doc told me. The last two days, my trouble has been exhaustion (I could just sleep all day), and today, major cramping from delayed emptying of a soft-scrambled egg from my pouch. Cramped for 5.5 hours, and the worst of them were at the end when it finally emptied. Can't bring myself to want to eat anything else today, so I am sticking with protein shakes.
Congratulations on your weight loss, though! This is one wild ride we've found ourselves on, isn't it?

Welcome back Dave,
I was just thinking what a great January '06 group of people
I had my open RNY 1/3.. no clue what you are all saying about left side pain, must be a lap thing. I was down 25 lbs at my 3 week follow up.
I read your post and was pretty impressed with your pre op loss.. My doc didn't require diet and I gained 5 lbs during the holidays.
