Able to eat too much!

I am about 3 weeks out. I haven't gotten the warning signs for being full. I am on soft/basically regular foods. I can't tell I'm full until I am overfull. I haven't gotten sick, but I know that the last bite was one too many. I also worry that I've already stretched my pouch. I am just praying that I am just not eating the quantity I think I am, or the foods I am eating are processing differently. It worries me, but I am prepared to just go back to watching what I am putting in my mouth. One lesson that I have learned... no more eating in front of the TV. I can't control the amount when I am not paying attention. DUH! Just keep trying, focus on getting what you need. If you aren't hungry, don't force it... It will get easier! Angela

Angela, I talked to my Nut about stretching pouch. I was worried because I did feel like I could eat too much and I was hurting twice from eatting too much I think. She said that the pouch is extremely elastic and it takes stretching over time to stretch out. I said "so a couple times and I have done no damage?" and she said no. I hope so Lisa

Just wanted to say THANK YOU to all of you for your responses. I also kinda felt like maybe the doc didn't really do the surgery or maybe made my pouch bigger on accident. I know that's far out thinking and wrong but i'm just worried and want it to work so bad. I'll let you guys know how my appt goes tomorrow, and hopefully a decent loss. Take care, Erica

When I left the hospital, my doctor told me not to go have a steak. I laughed at him and said no way! He said you would be surprised what some people do. I am a week nd a half our and feel like I could have a steak. I have not, but feel like the surgery has not worked because I have not been sick or feel full.

I had the same feeling - the second and third week - when I could have soft foods instead of just liquids I was worried about the amount I seemed to be able to eat without issue and that I didn't experience fullness. Now almost 4 weeks out - the limit is there! I got too smug and have had several incidents of things getting stuck or throwing up because I ate too much or too fast. The limit is there and your body will tell you one way or the other. I think especially in the beginning i have been looking for the feeling of fullness I used to get when I overate and stuffed myself. Now the signals are different, but if I don't listen to the subtle signals - it's not pretty!! I'm now getting better at slowing down, listening to my stomach and trying to not pu**** until my food is in my throat, but I have 37 years of bad habits to undo so it will take time! At my nutrition group, others said the same thing happened to them early on, so you are not alone. Just give your body time to recognize the new signals. Take care Eileen

Hi Erica! Thank you for posting this.I can relate so well to what everyone has felt. Especially when Tiffany said something about thinking the doc just put a scar there.lol. I feel better knowing I'm not alone and that the hic-up and the full throat etc. are things others have felt. I just love this site. It seems great no matter what stage of the journey we're on! We're all going through this together and obviously alot of us feel the same, so I guess we shouldn't worry so much. Thanks again for putting my mind at ease. Hope everyone's responses helped you too! Take Care~ Lisa
