Bruises anyone????????????

OMG, I have 2 enormous bruises where my right hand incisions are. They must be 3-4 inches lond and 2 inches wide. I'm really sore there, too. Anyone else have this kind of bruising? TIA for your help. Lisa

I had bruising on my left side! Lasted a few weeks too. The nurse said that might happen because of the blood thinners and not to worry about it. If you are worried though give your doc a call! Beth

yes I did, some were from my surgery and some were from getting the heprin shots in the stomache, did you get them there? Heprin is the blood thinner.

Lisa, I never had any bruising, but a lady I saw at my pre op class had horrible bruises all over her incisions. It probably has something to do wiht the fact that some bruise easier than others. It could laso have to do wiht the location of the incisions. I had a co-worker that had to have open RNY because they missed the mark by two inches. I suppose if it was like a 1/2 inch off they would muster around a little more than normal. I think it's normal for some people, but check with your doc if your concerned. K

My lower abdomen was horribly bruised from the heparin shots (blood thinner) I received there while at the hospital. The nurse wanted to change the location of the shot but since it was such a small painless needle- I told her to keep doing them in the abdomen. I had no idea the extent of the brusing it would cause. It was purple black and blue for about a week or so and has been fading ever since---almost gone now. Karen

Hi Lisa, I too had bruises from the blood thinner shots in my upper thigh is where I got mine. ~Dawn

Bruising is a sign of low iron as well. That's why they recommend iron pills. Just a thought

yEP I HAVE ONE ON MY LEFT SIDE AND ABOVE MY BELLY BUTTOM INCISIONS, THEY ARE STARTING TO TURN GREEN. EEEWWWWW..MY HUBBY KISSES THEM.

Oh yeah - my belly button is one big purple circle. Each lap incision is bruised a bit. They'll go away, along with LOTS of unwanted pounds!

My bruising was from the shots in the arm (my doc says no no in the stomach since it's already sensitive) and the night staff trying to take blood from a stone. I still have one that they botched so bad. It's still purple and that was almost a month ago. ::hugs:: Cyndi
