INTESTINAL SPASMS
I had open RNY on 1/23. I started having what feels like intestinal spasms Sunday 1/29 and mon 1/30. Is anyone else fellings this??? It is also wierd that so many people get this surgery-and so many are eating different types of food at different times post op. I thought it was a general agreement with the post op treatment, but I gues I am wrong. I am still on full liquids for the next 2 weeks. Ooh well-it will be worth it in the end. I also never had a drain? Any comments?
Hey Lisa!
I kinda felt like I had an alien in my tummy for a few days, like my intestines were alive...is that what you mean? Does it hurt? I had a lot of gas for a quite a few days but the doctor said to walk and that would help. It did too. I have the liquid diet for 2 weeks too. How are you doing getting your protein in? I have a really good recipe that my doctor gave me, it's one scoop of vanilla protein powder, 8 oz. of milk, one tblsp of Nestle Quick no sugar added chocolate mix, and fruit of your choice, blended till smooth. I added a half a banana and two pineapple chunks to mine this morning and it's working wonderfully! I love the taste and it has like 38 grams of protein in it. As for the drain, I did have a drain. I guess different Dr's use different techniques. I dunno.

I am doing great getting my protein in. Everyday greatere than 60 grams. I will have to check and see if I can have fruit. It isn't on my list but sounds great. I am having a hard time with the lack of chewing we are doing!!! I slipped and made tuna and chewed it untill it died all over again. I hated myself afterward -felt ok but mentally upset. It is so hard not chewing!!! Any ideas??? Lisa

I had RNY on 1/24 and felt the same thing for a few times. They were very painful. Rubbing my stomach where they were helped out a bit. Expelling some gas and having a BM got mostly got rid of them. I agree with you about the the post -op eating. It is very confusing. I have been having soft solids already. Good luck to you!
