Changes in taste, smell, preferences??

Hi - Have you all noticed any changes with your tastes or smell? I have had a few....first is my toothpaste. I cant stand the taste and had to go thru three different kinds before I found one that was not completely gross. I also liked Scope but that's gone, too. Ya'll know this but aspartame/splenda reek havoc for me with headaches and this nasty taste around my lips. I used to like lemon in my water but now find it to be very bitter and unpleasant. And my hormones are starting to fly, I look at men on the street and think of attacking. If you hear of a man being sexually assaulted on the streets of Chicago, well, you'll know I lost it. What are your experiences?? Tiffany

I have to say the same goes for me! I don't like alot of things I use to like. The surgeon says he sees this alot. I notice nothing has much flavor and or taste to me except I had some grilled onions (a few) and they tasted good and strong. PB doesn't even taste like PB. It's more of a texture taste for me now. Weird huh?? But great I suppose. Then I am not wanting things I can't have but my appetite is gone too. Hugs, Julie

HI Tiffany, Smells are really grossing me out, doesn't matter what it is the smells of life are driving me nuts. I feel nauseous all the time ....it's like being pregnant. Also, I may like someting today and loathe it tomorrow. I bought a 12 pk of water ($15.00) that I really liked when I tried it in the store. I can't even smell it now, it is so disgusting. Jen

Hi Tiffany, I have to say my sense of smell has changed a little, the smell of my mouthwash really turns my stomach & not to sound gross but the whiff of people's breath bothers me. I'm sure in a month or so my smells will change again. I live in NY but if I hear of any assualts I'll know it was you. Have a good night. Carly

Hi everyone; Yes, my smell stuff is haywire.The soap i usually use in the shower smells foul. My body smells funny to me. I only wish my hormones would start to fly.They have been dead for a long time..Good luck to all patsy

Abosultely that my tastes have changed. I used to love Mac and Cheese. My kids were making some, I went to help, and I stood over it and about Yep, didn't even get to cheat a taste! Some smells are really bothering me, but the worst smell is the smell of Keotosis working. My body STINKS!! ewww. It's just the worst thing. I slather on the deoderant after every shower, but the smell is coming from everywhere, not just underarms. Under boobs, under every flap of fat etc. I guess we are definately changing! ::hugs:: Cyndi

Hi Tiffany!! OK I am completely with you on the smell thing!! I thought it was because I quit smoking 2 weeks before surgery, but apparently not!! LOL Splenda has been giving me some nasty headaches and backaches too and if anyone else has this issue, the cherry sugar-free kool-aid is the culprit for me. I cannot stand the smell of my cat's canned food... WOW it stinks to me. Also, they recently put new carpet down and painted my apartment building and holy crow all I can smell is industrial glue!!! I have to run for my apartment it bothers me so much!! Hormones are reawakening too, Tiffany.... I have to keep myself in line!! LOL Also, WOW my body stinks and I shower daily and can't shake this pungent odor coming from everywhere. Also, not to be gross, but my urine has quite a strong odor to it. What is this from? Definately!! I am overly sensitive to sweet. I was never much of a sweet person anyway, but now....yuck! Which makes it hard to drink some of my protein drinks or even take my vitamins. And the body smell...not so bad right at the moment, but definately have my moments. I figured the change in taste and smell was because I had to quick smoking for this surgery too...guess not! Good to know in a way.

Hi Tammy: My smell and taste is changing also, I was baking a bannana loaf pan cake for my daughter yesterday. I was extremely nervous about making it because I used to love licking the bowl and my fingers and the beaters. As soonn as I got a whiff of the batter as I was mixing it my tummy did a couple of flip flops. Also I was walking down the hall in my apartment buillding the other day and someone was making hamburgers and the smell of the meat cooking was also bad to me. It smelled like it was burnig... Yuck. Can you all please tell me what the Keotosis is? I have heard that word before but really don't know what it is? Thank you Denise
