Hello All! I'm new here I've only posted a few times but I'm always reading all your new found wisdom. Today I had a very bad day....all I've been able to keep down was 1 oz of cheese, 4 crackers and 1/2C of decaf coffee...that was at 9:00/10:00am this morning. Everything else I tried came right back up...but first I had these horrible pouch spasms.... So needless to say I've given up trying anything else for today....but what do you all suggest for tomorrow? Should I go back to liquid or puree? Has anyone else had this happen? I honestly think I'm rushing myself....really sould still be on puree...but can't get the protein in...ever...can't find a shake or mix that I can tolerate....Which is ironic cause I didn't get this size by having a picky palate... Anyway, My poor little pouch hurts now and I'm not sure I want to send anything down to it anytime soon.....but if I do....what should it be? Thanks in advance for any input...it's really appreciated.... Bren -22 lbs

I would say if you feel you're rushing yourself then listen to yourself. I am also having trouble finding a good protein shake, but I keep trying them because I know it's important. Amy

I have had to revert back to thin liquids. I was feeling great and starving and think I rushed into purees a little fast, they didn't sit well with me. I agree, if you feel that you're rushing yourself then slow down, you're body is going to tell you what it needs. Take it easy, try broths...I personally like making my own instead of store bought. Also...have you tried Unjury shakes? So far the best flavored chocolates and they have an unflavored one...you can mix it with crystal light or something. Hope that helps a little.

Hey there Bren, I am sorry you have had a bad day. I think most doctors would tell you to go back to clear liquids for a day or so, then move ahead again slowly to full liquids, then pureed. Take things slowly. If you are having spasms, maybe your pouch isn't ready heavier solids right now. The protein is important yes, but a few days without isn't going to hurt. Shall I say, it will hurt a whole lot less than hurting your pouch by rushing things (if that is what is going on, that is). What does your doctor say? Chele

Bren sorry to hear about the bad day. I have never been into shakes but since surgery I have found the EAS Carb Control protien shakes. They have 15 grams of protein in one shake. That is usually what I have to drink 1/2 cup after breakfast and the other 1/2 after lunch. Hope this helps!!! -Sue

I am so sorry to hear about your day. I can't give any advice on the diet because it is clear that your program is much different than mine as I am on solid foods already (and nothing has made me sick yet). But for my protein drink, my doctor has me drinking Isopure zero carb. It isn't thick like a shake - more like a juice. It is 20oz. and has 40 grams of protein. It doesn't taste bad when it is cold - kind of has a funny after taste when room temperature. And the good news is that it counts towards my water intake (kills two birds with one stone). Hope this helps. Kristin -30 pounds

Thank you all for the advice...and caring comments. I will do the clears and then if I feel better the Puree foods...oh yummy...ha ha! Think my little pouch needs a break. ( Why do I suddenly feel like a marcupial?! I've tried the isopure and it's not too bad just leaves this film in my mouth which makes it difficult to finish....I'll keep trying. Unjury...I think I have a sample of that somewhere around here I'll try it tomorrow....Guess I have to take it day by day meal by meal!....Thanks again!....Hope you all have a wonderful tomorrow! I am sorry your having a bad day. I have been drinking carnation instant breakfast (no sugar) with skim milk, then I add 1 scoop protein powder (vanilla from gnc-whey based). This gives me 25 grams protein per batch. I am only allowed to drink 1/3-1/2 cup per hour so I then divide it up and put it in fridge to get cold. Hang in there!! I hope this helps.

Hi Bren, So sorry you are having a bad day. I just had surgery on 1/24. I found a WONDERFUL protein shake. I use the Whey Powder Protein in chocolate, and with a little splenda, it tastes just like a chocolate milk shake to me. Today I tried the vanilla with some frozen peaches i got at the grocery store, and that was pretty good too. Just be careful where you shop because a friend of mine paid $40.00 at his gym for the same thing I got at Vitamin World for $25. GNC has it too. I hope you start feeling well soon. Good luck and keep us posted. Hugs, Rosa
