Medical ID Bracelets
Heehee!! I am wearing mine right now!!! I feel so much better knowing that I am doing everything I can to make sure I am safe. My surgery is not as well known as the RNY, so I have all of my info on it, including surgeon's name and number.
I got it from Lauren's Hope and have received so many compliments. People are shocked when I turn it over and they see it is a medical ID. I also went to a beading store for fun with a friend and made me a "custom" bracelet!!!
It is certainly a personal choice. I am happy to wear one.

I bought one but have to get it engraved.
I think it's a great idea. Think about it, they want to do some kind of procedure on you (you're unconscience). They have to put a pint of fluid in your mouth... nope don't think so!!! God forbid being poisoned or something and them trying to put charcoal down your mouth... It's just better that there is something there to tell the doctors and nurses treating you.
Also, if you are alergic to the steri strips or anything, you can have that on the bracelet too. Just be sure to put what type of surgery you've had. WLS often makes people think bypass, and being VSG, there was no bypass.
::hugs::

Heck YEA..! We were told we should get one and to add the following:
Gastric bypass
NO NG (or was it NONG..?)
The NO NG has something to do with a tube they put through your nose into your stomach in emergencies. Our stomachs are configured differently than most now..

Hi,
I definitely think that you should wear a medic alert bracelet.
I ordered mine from www.designsbymimi.com. They are really nice. I was able to order three different styles for a very affordable price. The bracelet has one main tag and then I have three different bracelet parts, one with pearls and crystals, one with earth colored pearls and one with taupe colored pearls. Ok I like pearls, but she has tons of different designs and will even custom design to your specification.
Mine says.
line 1 Roux-en-Y Gastrc bypas
line 2 No NG Tube w/o Scope
line 3 No anti-inflammatory
line 4 No time released meds
hi Carly
being a former EMT the answer is yes i have one myself. a ER dr needs to know about you'r medical history when you are unable to let them know some of the things that they do may harm you if they are not alerted about the gastric bypass. if you go to my web site i have a link to the site i got mine from. Lauren's Hope is the link.
