Loss of feeling...
I cannot feel hunger most of the time and I can't feel any sensation of fullness. I am so scared that I will accidentally go overboard and rip or stretch my stomach. I was told to have a 4oz shake every other hour and clear liquids in between and yet I hear others say they can only tolerate 3-4 tsps at a time. Has anyone elses surgeon given the same instructions as mine or am I already ruining a good thing??!!! I want to meet the protein requirement but I don't want to counteract the surgery by over doing it. Thanks for all the help, Amy
I can tell you my experience......
I too drank tons of lquids becasue they pretty much go straight form your pouch to your intestine. I can sit down and drink my 11 oz pro drink in less than 15 minutes.
Once I went to soft foods (actualy chewing and swallowing foods) I find I am right with everyone else. I can eat more than a couple of teaspoons, but still within the nut's guidelines. So don't sweat it. You are perfectly normal.
PS.I never felt hungry or full while drinking my meals either.

Hi Amy,
I had my surgery on 1/24. Since then I cannot say that I feel "physical" hunger, but I do psychologically. Sometimes I see a commercial or smell something cooking, and want to eat, but when I really stop myself and think, it is not physically that I feel it. I am on pureed foods and liquid protein, and usually consume around 4 oz. per meal. My problem is that no matter what I eat, it wants to rush right out. I am seeing my surgeon tomorrow and will ask her what I should do about it. Diarehea is no fun! Hope this helps. Good luck to you!
