Hi, I had my follow up appointment today and I have lost 20lbs! I guess anyone would on clear liquids. However, I had to have my drain put back in (I had it removed prior to leaving the hospital). I have had swelling and pain around my incision and apparently fluid has been accumulating in the area. My doctor drained 150ccs while I was in the office and inserted a JP Drain. Not fun, but at least it's not a hernia (which I suspected due to the swelling). I return on Wed the 8th and hopefully at that time I will have the drain removed. Oh and the big news? I am upgraded to the Full Liquid stage! No more broth and SF Jello....wooo hoooo! Chele

Hi, Chele. Congrats on the loss. That's fantastic! I had my one week to have the JP drains removed. I left the hospital with them in. My surgeon leaves them in all his patients for the week. I was so glad to get them in. They are a nuisance, aren't they? Glad to hear that it's under control though. Hopefully your pain will get better. I understand about being happy about no broth, jello, etc. I hated that and almost ate nothing because I couldn't stand anymore of that stuff. I know that's a relief as well. We had surgery the same day. As of Monday I had lost 14. Keep up the good work!!! Kim

Chele, Did it hurt when they re-inserted the tube? Did they sedate you? After seeing how long mine was (when they removed it) I can't imagine having that put back in awake. Kathy

Hi Kathy, No, it didn't hurt. My doctor gave me a couple local injections ("bee stings") to numb the area and those hurt more than the actual insertion, which I barely felt. I was relieved! lol Chele

Chele, Congrats on the 20 pds. What is a full liquid stage? I saw dr on thursday and I cant go to pureed stage until Tuesday I thought I was going to dye. I told him I was feeling hungry...starved and he said there was no way...he told me it was my stomach/intestines making noises. Hmmm....sorry about the drain tube going back in but like you said better than a hernia. Take care and keep up the good work. Tina 269/246/140ish -23 pds woohoo

Hi Tina, Full liquids and easily digestible foods (according to my surgeon): no sugar added yogurt cream based soups sugar free puddings/custards no sugar added frozen yogurt low fat cottage cheese (chewed until paste consistency) no sugar added applesauce, diluted mashed potatoes (runny) V8 juice milk And I could finally start: protein shakes vitamins I feel so much better being able to put something in my pouch. Sorry about having to wait for Tuesday. I'm hoping the time goes by fast for us both (I'm waiting for Wed to get this drain out!). Hugs, Chele
