bump under incision
I have never had surgery so have nothing to compare. I am a tad panicked as last night (and of course all day today) I have been feeling a tennis ball size bump in my stomach/solar plexus area just under my incision. The whole area seems very tight but this area seems to spasm once in awhile. Could it be my new plumbing??? Could it be a hernia rom coughing or getting sick the first week? It has been 2.5 weeks and things are going pretty well. I will call Monday but I guess it just helps to know if others have had this type of thing. Maybe I better get out tomorrow and quit thinking of things!!!
Pat,
On my 15th day out, I had been very sore on my left side. When showering, I felt a marble sized lump under the incision on the left-- the largest incision where I had been told the stapler had been placed during surgery.
Alarmed, my fiance Jeff called my doctor's office and their p.a. called me right back. After explaining what I had felt, she told me that I was the third caller that day with the exact same scenario. She then went on to explain that during surgery, they'd had to stretch the muscle in order to place the stapler, and that the lump I was feeling was most likely swelling in the muscle or some fluid buildup there. She assured me that it was perfectly normal.
When I saw my surgeon two days later for my follow up appointment, she said that it was just something that they "gave" me during surgery-- perfectly normal and totally non-threatening.
Mine was "only" boulder sized, so don't take MY word for it. If you are feeling concerned tonight, don't hesitate to call your doctor's office. They will have someone on call to answer any questions.... you don't have to wait til Monday.
