dumping
Has anyone else been dumping? I know that I must learn what I can eat or not, but the other night my husband even was confused because I ate only two small bites from a baked pototoe and two small pieces of chicken (and I chewed those until there was nothing) and I spent the next two hours over the toilet. I did this for two days now, and last week I did it four days. I am almost afraid to eat. Protein drinks are okay getting down and water, but even cottage cheese has been a problem.
Karen.
Hi Karen. Yes I have been having the same problem and I am sure they are going to tell me that I am not getting enough protein. For breakfast I do ok but then when it comes to lunch and supper. I make sure I wait the 1/2 hour and after not to drink. Well I seem to over eat due to being full from water. I am lucky if I can even get 1/4 cup of food down and then 5 minutes later I am dumping. I go back for my 3 week checkup on wednesday and will ask what to do then. Thanks for posting and letting me know I am not the only one!

Karen, I'm not 100% sure, but it doesn't sound like you're dumping. It sounds like maybe you have a stricture. Given what you're eating and having problems with, a stricture is more likely. Also, I don't think most people throw up when the dump. I've heard it described more as having a heart attack and your bowels feeling like they're tied in knots.
I'd definitely call you doctor and describe what you're eating and feeling. They may want to have you get a GI scope to see if there's a problem with your pouch.
Good luck and I hope you feel better soon.

I had one dump episode.....I was clammy, this odd chill came over me, I was white as a ghost. There were trembles, nausea and dizzyness. My stomach was in knots but no puking; although there was some dirreaha later. Dumping is where there is a rush of water into your stomach and what's there is pushed out too quickly. The water leaving your blood stream so quickly is what gives the chills. It was not pretty and I hope to never have it happen again; the episode was from tomato soup at a restaurant and we figure it was too oily.
Review your situation with your doctor, of course.
Good luck and be sure to post and let us know how you are.
