Guys, meats are real hard to eat at first. If you are having trouble with them, don't eat them. If you were able to eat beans, then eat those, 3 times a day if you have too. Try different beans too. Then in a few days try something else that isn't meat. I know people who became vegetarians because meats didnt work for them for a long time. I find the only meat I can eat is ground beef. It has to have a sause. Meat balls, in chili, that sort of thing. 2 to 3 small meat balls is all. Also anything with high fats will make you feel full faster and longer. Try low fat cheese, if you are able to eat cheese. This is advise I am getting from my best friend who had the surgery 2 years ago and loooks fabulous.

Hi Lisa- I was moved to pureed foods last week and ever since I was having a hard time getting all my protein. Finally I decided I had to supplement, but I couldn't drink enough of the powdered drinks to really make a difference. So, I went looking online and I found a liquid protein supplement called Profect. In about 3 oz. I can get 25 grams of protein. That's GREAT! I can get all my liquids in. I can eat what is comfortable and add one or two of this little guys and I'm exceeding my protein requirements and liquid requirements. And there not too bad tasting. Judie

I've been using Isopure since I'm home from the hospital. In a 20oz bottle you have 40g of protein. While I was on liquids I would drink a bottle a day mixed with Crystal Lite. Now that I can have food I only use 1/2 a bottle. But it does help me get in my protein. I eat a lot of cheese, cottage cheese, eggs, chicken, tuna. Also Wendy's chilli has been a nice treat. It has 17g of protein only 6g of fat and 200 calories. And it's $.99!

hi! I have the same problem. I just can't drink any of the protein drinks, powders, clear drinks, they all just gross me out, and believe me, I've tried it all. But toady I finally found something that I do like, Gerbers baby food meat. it's about 2,5 oz and have 8 grams of protein. it's almost liquid form and tastes like meat (you have to add some salt and pepper), I can't either eat any meat, even though I chew for ever... Also I drink one Atkins shake a day, just 9 oz and contains 20 grams of protein. I am never ever hungry and the whole food issue is really on my mind all day. How I'm gonna get it all in. But the last couple of days I've been able to get at least 50 grams of protein, and both my doc and my nut are saying it's ok amounts for now. Good luck!!! Magdalena 311/278/183

Hello I've discovered Special K High protein cereal, it has 10 grams per serving. I also eat cottage cheese, beans, chicken, yogurt and a high protein shake or bar once a day. Good luck I know its tough. Carly

Isopure is good stuff and high protein, it goes down easy. Boca chicken patties are tasty and 16g each A cheese stick is generally 6-10g Beans, if you can have them, are high protein - why cook? Stop at Baja Fresh or Taco Bell for a side order. The softest ones are black, pinto, kidney, white. Eggs if you can have them. Cottage cheese tofu - get some seasoned, tasty, cubes from your whole foods salad bar. Ezekiel sprouted bread - toast it well, 4g of protein, add a slice of cheese for over 10g of protein. Ezekiel bread is in the frozen section and at Trader Joes. Also at Trader Joes: meatless meatballs - I've had to show the bag to vegetarian friends to prove they are not real meat; 16g for four! Low fat yogurt cheese, great for the lactose intolerant and 7g of protein per slice!! Canned chicken breast, softer than anything you'd cook fresh. Avoid the chocolate covered raisins, oh my, they were my downfall in my past life..... www.highproteinfoods.com - a great reference for ideas and the protein counts.

I drink my protein I have a powder that is 24g per scoop, and 4oz of skim milk=4g, I drink this 3 times a day+ 1 have cottage cheese=13g, and string cheese=10g, which equals 107g a day. Some people have to have up to 170g of protein a day. Plus I get in my 64oz of water. I have no hunger and would much rather just have my protein drinks but I know I have to start the food, in small meals. Even though I don't want it. Good luck getting it in. Hugs, Lynda
