How about cottage cheese? Tuna was real easy when I first went to puree I still have to recommend Isopure in the premixed bottles. I still use 1/2 a bottle a day and am up to soft foods, but it gives me a good start each day and I hate the shakes too. Give it a try. Regards and hugs, Ronna

Hi Suzie - Are you sure you can have eggs and cheese? It seems like it would be too soon for you. I had gastric banding 2 weeks ago and am just starting mushy foods. I found that the easiest way to get in my protein was unflavored Unjury mixed with soups or chicken broth. One scoup is 20 Grams. I also really liked chocolate sugar free pudding - again I mixed the Unjury (chocolate flavored) 2 scoups in 1 package. I tried several shakes and found them horrible. FYI If you put Unjury in hot stuff the consistency changes (bit lumpy) but it has no flavor and is very palatable. Hope this helps. Leslie 250/216/140ish

People are probably tired of hearing me say it, but I use the Underwood Chicken, Ham, and roast beef. It's a meat spread! There's also the Nectar or premade Isopure which are like juice and koolaid. ::hugs:; Cyndi

Hi, Suzie. I am two weeks post op and after drains were removed I'm allowed to have soft proteins, as tolerated. I've had no problems tolerating all of the choices on my soft protein list. Here's what I do: Taco Bell meat - this meat is mostly soy, therefore, soft protein. You can order the 89 cent soft taco, scrape out the 1 oz. of meat and heat up, I keep them frozen in the freezer, heats up in 45 seconds. Great! Tuna w/shredded 2% cheddar and Kraft FF mayo on a few crackers. Yummy and tons of protein Gordon's fish fillets; super high in protein....I have eaten the garlic butter, Italian seasonings and they offer a blackened fillet as well. Turkey or ham wraps: turkey and a slice of 2% american cheese, roll it up and either eat it cold or nuke it and the ham, same way or else you can use FF cream cheese in it and roll. All are yummy and the turkey is high in protein as well. I also take an egg (spray Pam in the pan) and scramble and add a slice of 2% cheese, yummy!!!! Also, peanut butter crackers and cheese crackers are on my list along with eating a tsp of pnut butter alone. Love it. Just some ideas for you. And, it's working because I'm losing. Let me know if you like any of those foods. Kim cottage cheese, soy, yogurt are also on my list of soft proteins

I am 10 days out now. I can actually turn food away. The other night for my teenage son and friends theu had pizza and all types of junk. I looked and then decided i have come to far to put myself through pain, dumping. And hurt my recovery. I'm looking forward to going off the jello, pudding, yogurt, protein shake, cream soup. Stage 2 I get my stitches out on the 14th of February......How long would you stay out on disablity before going back I work in the health field and need to be able to assist seniors in lifting, pushing, and run the activity department and social service dapartment. They say 4 to 6 weeks I would love to be off the pureed and eating regular food before going back.

Suzan, you should wait and see how you are feeling. I am three weeks out and feel ready to go back to work. I see my doctor next week and hopefully he will let me (my work needs a letter from him stating I can go back). I too have a physically demanding job, I work with children in the custody of the state that can hit, kick and do all kinds of crazy things.

I must be weired I have no trouble getting in 100g of protien a day. The protein drinks are a great part of it, I drink 3 of them a day, and get the rest in cottage cheese and string cheese. But some days I just have my 4 protein drinks and of course the 64oz of water. I have no hunger at all and feel full all of the time. I had my surgery 1/9/06, and have lost 30.5 pounds since surgery, and I am 60 years old, going on 16. Hugs, Lynda
