I am glad I came on today. I seem to be having 4 out of 7 days feeling awful. This morning I tried an omelet/mushrooms/goat cheese. I ate about half. At one I had a protein drink made with skim milk. Since then, I have had nothing but stomach spasms and nauseau. When I eat or drink, within a couple of minutes I get a brief stomach spasm almost like I can feel it traveling through the track. I was even wondering if I picked up a bug that seems to be going around but I haven't vomited ----- I don't feel that my energy level is up to par but again, everyone is different. A 57 year old doesn't bounce back like a 37 year old!! I guess if I know that this is just part of the process, I will be o.k. and wait it out. I certainly haven't done the happy dance re the surgery yet and look forward to the day that I will. I go back to the doc on Monday so we will see, but it certainly looks, by the posts that many of us are struggling a bit right now, therefore, NORMAL!!??

I know I am struggling this week. No real food for me yet, still on the applesauce, juice and some blended soup. It's all in my head that I think I should be eating some of the same things others are. not hungry or anything. My energy is a big zero but as I have been told...it will get better.

hi Pat, I had my surgery on 1/20 and am very careful of what I eat. i only eat 3 meals a day 2T each meal. I eat puree chicken, yogurt, cottage cheese sf ff pudding and my protein drinks with milk and liquids. I have never been sick yet, i am very lucky. I am afraid to try eggs. i am 58 and you are right we don't bounce back as easy, but just take a day at a time. My doc has me on puree foods until 2/2 when I go in for my next checkup. Mushrooms I was told are very hard to digest for us even later. Take care Rosemary

Hi Pat.. I can relate to your problems. I thought something was wrong with me too. My doc said It is all normal. I am only 29, but I dont think age is going to make a difference with what you eat.. He also told me to NOT eat and drink at the same time.. wait 30 minutes before and 30 minutes after, and I cant help it sometimes. I have always had a drink with my meals, so when I do I notice that gurgly feeling in my tummy as well. And just plain not feeling well. Hang in there! Michelle

HI Pat, I too am a "little older"- 57. And the energy level is slower for us to come back. My Dr. told me we don't get to "cheat" at all. We need to play by the rules all the time. That being said, I think we are old enough, and know ourselves well enough to do this with total committment! This too shall pass- I still am on pureed and ready for real food!!!!!!!! I have a 2nd post-op with nurse on Monday and the dietician on the 20th. I hope things pick up then I've lost 25#s and still have some nausea. So- we get to take things a little more slowly- Enjoy it!!! and put another dvd in!!! Best of luck cj

Pat, I'm curious to hear what your DR told you about the stomach spasm. I am 6 wks out and I'm suffering from the same thing - I'm not sure if its upper gas or if I hurt something after throwing up for the first time and then getting a serious bout of the hiccups. It hurts like heck and I'm thinking about calling my DR tomorrow. Sonia
