I had a complete "blond moment" last night. I can eat now so I heated up one of those uncle bens rice bowls. I only ate the grilled chicken and veggies. problem, it was sweet and sour sauce. about 30 mins later I got to thinking, so I read the box. 22 grams of sugar. I DONT DUMP!! Its just scarry for me. I know I'll still lose, but was really hoping for the dumping sydrome. Elsa

My nutritionist said that 24 grams of sugar is the point at which most folks dump. When you consider that you didn't eat the rice (which probably soaked up much of the sauce) you probably ate far less than 22 grams of sugar. You may still find yourself dumping if you eat too much sugar, fat, processed foods, etc. Everyone is different, but that is the guideline I was given. Good luck! Eileen

Elsa too funny! Here's my OOPS story. I went back to my office on 2/1, 7 days after surgery. I was in my co-worker's office and she had a can of chocolate covered almonds on her desk. Talk about mindless eating. Without even thinking, somehow one of those ended up in my mouth. I chewed and chewed and chewed (since I was still only eating from the stage II - applesauce and stuff) and then excused myself to go to the restroom. By the time I got there it was like "what's the point it's all mush" so I went ahead and swallowed. I was hoping for dumping too because now I'm thinking like you "I don't dump". If 24 grams of carbs is the threshhold then that's why - I won't try it again though.

I forget while I'm eating that I had the surgery and I end up swallowing without chewing enough... needless to say i end up ing a LOT!!!! When will I ever learn I keep putting myself back on super soft foods so i don't have to think about it too much but I know I need to advance sometime. Dana

Hey girl, what's up?? I am sooooo much happier now that I'm on pureed foods! (Plus my stall finally was broken!) I have a feeling that chewing is going to be a problem of mine as well. My family has always joked about how fast we eat, and I'm 33, so it's going to take awhile to push away years of wolfing and make myself slow down and chew! I also am having a hard time with holding off drinking before and after eating! I guess because I CAN'T drink, I suddenly am SUPER thirsty!! My head playing games with me probably. Anyway, I almost feel normal again, how 'bout you???

I'm glad you are doing better! I kindof wish I had stricter guidelines after surgery so I wouldn't be going thru all this ing all the time. Oh well - the girls at work are starting to call me a "bulimec *****" of course it's all in good fun . I am having a hard time reprogramming myself to eat slower. In my job the faster you eat the better - so I'm used to wolfing everything down so I can get back to work faster. The whole drinking thing is killing me too! I love to drink tons of water all the time and now having to wait all the time before and after blows.... oh well i'm done *****ing... I do love love love the surgery and I love losing weight so really I am happy! I do feel normal so this is great! Dana
