Salad Anyone?
At six weeks out I am off of all restrictions (8 more days!) and cannot WAIT to try a salad. I never knew how much I would crave salad and veggies until I couldn't have them!
I saw a carton of grape tomatoes at the grocery store and practically started drooling the other day!!
I believe the reason is that they are so hard to digest. The only vegetables I can have now are cooked squash, carrots and green beans (mushed) right now, and none are my faves.
Wow it doesn't seem like it has been 5 weeks! Woohoo time flies when you are having fun right? I know I know - your puree'd stage was not fun but 8 days and no restrictions is definately something to look forward too! I still will have restrictions but honestly I don't know what stage I'm supposed to be on. I have my 1 month appt on Wednesday - here's hoping I don't get chewed out for eating stuff I'm not supposed to.

Yes!!! I've had a few salads and loved every minute with no complications.
Having said that.....iceburg lettuce was chopped and I chewed it well to the point it was water. It was the easiest thing I had to chew in weeks. Same thing with green cabbage. I also ate tomatoes, some peeled cucumber and a bite of onion which was 1000% stronger than I ever remembered.
I am not yet allowed raw cauliflower, broccoli or skin on veggies like zuccini or eggplant. Also anything stringly like asparagus or celery. I can eat baby carrots and steamed veggies. Mushrooms are on the fence, they dont break down from what you chew so that's critical if you eat them and they are a no-no raw.
The salad was very satisfying as I felt like I could eat more, especially when I was chewing the lettuce to water. Romaine lettuce was more chewy and spinich was hardest of all, I'll wait on that for awhile.
The naturalist in me also suggests you try organics when ever possible and wash everything - our pouches and smaller systems cant handle pesticides and any organisms on unwashed produce.
