It's not just that. I think it's normal to wonder if this surgery is going to "work", particularly when we see others posting a loss of x amount of pounds and we can't even come close. KWIM? It's not that we're unhappy of those who have lost so much weight, but we just wonder if there is something we aren't doing correctly. If so, we'd like to alter what we are doing so we can be on track too! I wonder about myself because I have so many endocrine issues...and I think to myself, "What if this last resort does not work!?" Also, It's difficult not to compare. I agree with Elsa, to ME, this is all a chore and to know that the scale isn't showing a loss when others see a HUGE loss, well...it's hard not to become discouraged, IMHO. That being said...I am inspired by those at the "top of the class"!! I am in awe when I read the posts! This board is awesome and I love the sense of camaraderie. Happy Valentine's Day! Chele

Hi Christina, Congratulations on 17lbs lost forever This is normal for you. You can't compare to anyone else cause you are you and will lose the way your body wants to. You are doing great. Just use your new tool. Work at getting in your protein, fluids and keep up the good work on your excersise and you will do fine. Heck, my first couple of weeks I didn't lose a thing and now I'm down over 50lbs. Keep up the good work Regards and hugs, Ronna

Mine was the 25th and I've lost 15 - I think we're all about the same...I hear 15-30 is normal for the first month. Isn't it weird though, that if we had lost 17# in 3 weeks before surgery we would have been jumping for joy and now it seems like squat?

Yep same thing here, I am getting a little discouraged to lately because my scale is at a standstill. I went for my 1 week post op check up last Monday and my surgery was on the 24th. My weightloss was 17lbs. I wonder if we will all come off this standstill together. .. Well at least we know we are not alone in this...

Christina, I know all too well how you are feeling. I was feeling the same way until I talked to the dietician and doc. The things I was told is: 1. Dont measure yourself against anyone elses progress since your body is different then theirs. 2. Stalls can come this early out of surgery 3. Bigger people lose faster than smaller people. 4. The weight loss is going to eventually come off and also look at the inches you have lost. 5. I have noticed I had a stall but I then was told by the owner of Curves for Women that I have been building muscle and losing fat. 6. (most important) Stay off the scale and if you need to weigh yourself only do it once a week. (I know, easier said than done!!!!) Hope this helps!!!! -Sue 242/215/150
