How many Cal's do you average?
I went in yesterday for my 6 week appt and I was told I was not eating enough calories and I knew I wasnt getting in enough protein. I was so caught up about fitday.com and calories I think I was making myself get full in my head when my calories were getting too hign in my mind. I was only taking in 400-600 day and was averaging 50 grams of protein a day. He told me to up that to 70 and my calories to 1200 and not to worry about carbs or fat just stay away from refined flour, sugar, pasta and rice.
I also enter my food on fitday.com. I average around 350-400 calories a day. I have been told by several people that that is not enough. I go see my doc on the 21st so I will ask him. I eat 3 meals and 1 snack a day, I just choose very low calorie, low carb, low fat food choices. I have heard that if you take in too few calories it can slow your weightloss. If that is the case, I will have to start eating more foods. I do pretty good on protein. I try to eat chicken and seafood every day, they are very high in protein. Another thing I tried that I really liked was adding one scoop vanilla protein powder to orange sunrise crystal light. It tastes like a creamsicle. Yummy.

I feel kind of silly now. because I am only getting in about 500 cal tops. I am still on the purreed diet and having a very hard time with it. I keep getting sick and one thing works one day but not the next. Is anyone else having that problem? My nut said don't worry about cal also but to make sure I am getting my protein and fluids in. This is getting to be alot harder than I thought. It was easy for me during the fluid stage but now, OH BOY! Well good luck everyone. Thanks
Michelle
I just checked Fitday and it looks like "723" is the average calorie intake for me. 73 gms protein as an average.
I haven't been told how many calories I should have, but I have been told to have between 60-80gms protein a day.
I don't think I'd want to go below what I'm getting in now because I wouldn't want weight loss to slow down due to my metabolism slowing down and lack of cals.
HTH,

I am four weeks post op and I am averaging 454 calories and about 52 grams of protein per day.
I took the sample menu that my nut gave me and entered it into fitday.com and this is how it came out Cals 862 Fat 30 Carb 60 Prot 85
That seems like a lot of carbs to me. Everyone else I talk to says to keep the carbs low.
This seems to be a topic that there is not a definite concrete answer to.
God Bless,
Jen
I, too, haven't been told a calorie count. My info from the nutritionist and doc was to get at least 60-70g protein/day. According to Fitday, my average calorie intake is 403 and 63g of protein. I'm only 3 weeks out and am only allowed a small variety of protein food. I will be able to add cooked veggies and some fruit after next week. I just still can't eat very much at a time. Any kind of dense food (i.e. chicken, tuna) I can only eat aboout 2 oz. max. I can eat 3 oz. of yogurt, if I eat very slowly. LIke many of you, I guess I'll ask this at my 4 week check-up.
