As long as we regularly get into the category of TMI... My BMs are few and far between...it's been a week now. What is anyone elses's experience? I'm apprehensive to take something because I don't want to become a slave to the bathroom. I don't feel constipated, but am concerned. Please let me know. Jen

Jen, Funny that you should ask. My surgery was 1 day after yours. Today was my first bowel movement..yup 3 weeks. Well, I did have the diarrhea from the leak test in the hospital. I'm still on full fluids so I wasn't so worried. I never felt like I had to go, just some gas. I've had 3 movements today. I know....wayyyyyyyyyyy TMI!!!!

I'm the opposite of you. When I first got home from hospital it had been almost 4 days since a BM and the nurse had said on the 4th day to have a laxitive. Well i didn't have to and now I go all the time and it is frustrating because I'm scared to go out in public!!!

Hi Jen! I hadn't had a BM in 2 1/2 Weeks, I called and talked to the nurse and she said to take MOM, 3 days later nothing. I don't feel constipated. Now she says it is time for the wonderful enema. WHOA!!! I hope that it is not like this forever. Good Luck! Jenn

Hi Jen, I've been experiencing the same thing, I'll be 6 weeks post op this Friday. Last Friday I was constipated bad & went out and bought some "Smooth Move Tea". It worked great, 8 hours later I had a BM. You take it before bed and works wonders, no cramping or excess gas. Give it a try. Good luck. Carly

Hi Jen, I too had the same problem! I added the weight control oatmeal to my diet and all has been well since. Teh banana bread falvor is really good - kinda thick but I add a little more water to it. This site is so great - glad we can talk about things like this! ;) Rhonda -25#

I've had a real problem with this since surgery. My doc said after 2 days you need to do something. Milk of Magnesa has been a big help. The mint flavor is not bad and you take it before bed and in the morning, Viola! Good luck!

The Nurse told me once a week is fine. But I found out I need more help. Not getting enough fiber, so it doesn't move the way it should. I have twice since surgery (over a month ago) had to use 1/2 an enema and boy does it feel good to let it go! I'm watching it though because it happened when I was PMSing and when I was ovulating.... hmmm... ::hugs:: Cyndi

Jen, Jen, I do feel your pain I'm six weeks out and very constipated. Nothing this week at all. I just took one half dose of Senakot. Hopefully both of us will feel better in the morning. Robin
