McDonalds Website
Ok, I know we're not supposed to be thinking about fast food. But I took my kids to McDonalds today for lunch and I got myself a chicken fajita. I ate the meat, veggies & cheese from inside the tortilla. When I got home, I looked up the McD's website to get the nutritional info to add to fitday. I was VERY impressed with how it's set up. You can take an item from the menu, and disect it, so you know what the nutritional value is, of exactly what you ate. I was able to know the calories (70) carbs (3) protien (8) fat (3.5) of the inside of 1 chicken fajita plus cheese. They do it for salads, sandwiches, etc. Cool!

hmmm, I haven't seen that on our Mc D's menus here. I wonder if they have it. My son loves Mc D's and it is the only place I can't think of something I can eat from. Ok, could eat anything I want from there, just wont. Salads are great till you add the dressing, I guess they have a vinegret that is low cal. according to my doc.
We live a busy life style here, and with the odd schedules, cooking doesn't always work. Cooking just for me, rediculous (sp). So I do grab from fast food places
I love the South west chicken pita from Jack in the Box. I don't eat the pita, just the beans, corn and chicken. If I did eat the pita, it is only 290 cal. so I know what I eat is fine.
Fast Food doesn't have to be an enemy, just have to know how to use them.
Most McDonald's have items that aren't listed on the menu that the public sees. There just isn't enough room to list everything, so they generally have a few choices that aren't shown; they aren't the higher volume sellers. It could also depend on if the restaurant is Owner/Operator or if it is a Franchisee. Owners can make changes their stores that the franchisee can't; including removing and adding items on the menu.
Never be afraid to ask for a fajita even if it isn't on the menu; the worst they can say is "I'm sorry, we don't have that item."
