How many carbs
My surgeon or nutritionist wont entertain any discussion about carbs, they say protein and water are the two things I need to focus on. Also that conventional rules no longer apply and I am not supposed to think about or go by any rules from any past diets. Our bodies are different now and absorption is completely different than it once was.

I am allowed 3 servings of bread a day. This can be 2 crackers or 1 slice of sugar free toasted bread, or 1/2 cup cereal. Carbs aren't really supposed to be counted, but it was suggested that I read labels and always chose the low fat/low carb items over those high in fat & carbs. Our body does need some carbs to function properly, and even healthy things like cheese have some carbs in them. As long as you are making the right choices in products, you shouldn't have any problems.

I'd been on the Low Carb wagon for a very long time before my surgery. As a lowcarber, the diets suggest a limit of 20-30 grams a day.
Since most of us are used to eating over a hundred grams a day, easily,
I would suggest roughly 30-50 as a limit.
That is what I am trying to get. Remember that you can subtract the fiber and any sugar alcohol, to get your "useable carb count" or "net carbs".
It is really easy to go overboard, you can be in control of what you eat. Don't worry if you go over your "limit" once in a while. Your body is used to handling way more... it'll process them.
Just do what feels okay for your body. You will find what works...
My nut and Dr. told me not to worry about carbs, but I can't help it. I know from experience, that the carbs don't help me...
Also, carbs that are natural (like fruit or whole grains) are WAY better for my body...
I hope that this helps!
