Olives anyone?
I have a nutrition list from my surgeon. It lists a few items that should be avoided in the first 6 weeks. One of the items is olives. Why? I love black olives and they are low carb. Is there a reason we should avoid olives? Is it only green olives we should avoid, or black olives also? I have no problem sticking to the rules, but I am curious why they are forbidden.

My *guess* would be because they are high in fat... and you could probably do some damage if you ate many (which, if you really chewed them up, I bet you could fit in a lot)
That said, I ate some that came on a pizza, when I pulled off the toppings and ate it. Anyway, that did not stay down (but there were many other things on it too- so I can't say for sure if it was the olives)
I would say, as it was on the list, is it is almost a raw vegie. If not chewed real well, will block the stoma. In new surgeries, that can cause life threatening problems. Olive fat, is non saturated, an ok fat. It is also extremely hi in Biotin, so those who are afraid of hair loss and can eat them, it is a very good idea to do so.
