can you eat too few calories?????
As of today I am 5 weeks post op and was wondering can you eat too little--what I mean by that is too few calories? My nutritionalist informed me that I dont need to worry about calories etc just yet -- she stated just to get my water, vitamins and 80grams of protein in (that includes protein shakes) My daily routine as of late consists of B=protein shake w/4oz milk + 4oz water, S=2oz tuna fish w/a touch of mayo to moisten it, L=2oz grouper or tilapia, S=either 2oz of fish again or chicken or turkey & D=either a 8oz or 4oz protein shake made with water. Im getting in 80+ grams of protein but I am wondering if the calorie intake is too low and if it is can that stall my weight loss?? Im also walking 45min-60min per day on my treadmill and according to the calorie counter I am burning 200+calories (not that I feel it is accurate)
Anyone please advise
thanks in advance--Lori

I've been told the same thing, not to count calories, carbs or fat...and lucky you, I only get 65-70g of protein a day. Protein continues to be the key variable. I have a hard time believing that fatty protein is just as good as lean protein. I dont think, however, that too few calories is a problem at this point in the game and will give you a better foundation for later on when it is a part of the weight loss game.
It depends what stage you are in. Get your protein in first. My Nut has me on a 500 - 700 Calorie a day program. Too little and my body wasn't losing weight because it was storing everything as fat.
My Nut says it's okay to have some carbs, especially good ones, because that fuels the body while the protein builds the muscles. Drink water, eat protein, then get in your calories, but get in healthy calories
