I just called my surgeon... I have a problem.. a HUGE one. I'm consumed. I'm afraid. Please pray for me. Before the stricture was removed I could only hold dabbles of whatever be it food/water. Now realizing I am only 6 weeks out from surgery.. But now I have my taste buds back and am able to eat 3-4 oz at a time!! I know I shouldn't have done it. I should have more control!! I feel different. My pouch feels differently. Maybe it's because the stricture is gone and I can eat now... maybe my pouch got stretched? I dunno... I cannot go back! My relationship with food was severed. I didn't have this surgery to not lose weight. Will I still be the same?? What is going on? Any advise.. Hugs, Julie

Julie, I guess I don't really understand. I'm able to eat up to a half cup (4 oz) of food over the span of 30 mins time, according to my doctor (and I have a 2cc micropouch). I do this without problem. It seems like you are on track, at least from the standpoing of being able to eat 3-4 ounces at a "meal". Also, be prepared because after about 6 months or so, this is the time when swelling goes down and we are naturally able to eat more. It's really going to take hard work on our part in the form of making good choices, in order to continue on our path. I think you'll notice after even more time (a year +) you'll be able to tolerate even more and different types of foods as well...at least, this is a common thread I have noticed among friends who are further out. It's scary, I know. I'm afraid that I don't dump and one day I'm going to test the theory and I'll know for sure...then what if I don't? I'll know that I can eat sugar without suffering the consequences...and that will be a terrible thing, for me. We're all in the same boat though. We'll all have to learn to live with a lifetime of being around food, and our bodies will probably be able to take in more...certainly more than initially. Chele

Chele, Thanks so much! I just felt panic when I could eat more than before the stricture it really scared me! I am glad I am on track where I should be. I dump so I make good choices. I found out in the hospital when they mixed my medicine in something I shouldn't have had! I felt so sick only for 10 minutes but enough to know I never want to feel that way again! I stay away from sugar altogether and use splenda some. I drank water and try to get my protein in. I am so glad to have people I can lean on. Hugs, Julie

I talked to my doctor after 2 weeks post-op that I could eat 4 oz. of pudding and he said that was OK because it is just like liquid and it goes out of your little tummy just like water. I find now that if there is more bulk in the food I can't eat 4 oz. I'm still on soft and puree food. I think it depends on the food you eat to how much you can eat... Ya Think???? I'm just guessing on this one.... Hugs

You are so right too, Elvera! My surgeon just called me and he told me that for solid food 1-2 oz at this stage but more liquid foods you can have more of because they move through more quickly. thanks! Hugs, Julie Oh, he also told me that I did get stretched more and in a few days that will pass but to stop myself after 1-2 oz. He said it tightens up after a few days and this will pass.
