I had my surgery on the 19th of January and have lost forty pounds. I struggle mostly with eating too fast and getting sick (and sometimes eating too much and getting sick!) I litterally have to take 30 minutes to an hour to eat just 1oz of food, is anyone else experiencing this? Of course that means my food is always cold! I'm proud of how far I've come, just wondering if anyone else is going through the same thing??

Oh yes... I have to take a bite, and sometimes I walk away from my food, that way I can't eat it too fast. Most always I have to microwave it at some point during my meal.

Hi Christie! My surgeon recommends purchasing a mug warmr so your food is always warm. I don't have one personally, so can't get you any kind of prices. Good luck! *~*Jaci*~*

I can eat more than you can (4 ounces), but I have gotten sick from eating too fast. I have to spread it over 30 mins time, which does leave me with cold food. Sometimes I nuke the plate a couple times just to have hot food. Chele

I had my surgery the 20th, and I know how you feel. To keep from eating too fast I watch tv while I eat. I take one bite at each commercial. That way it spreads it out enough that I don't eat too fast. Amy

I have just the opposite problem! I have to slooooow down! I can eat my measly 3 oz way too quickly. Sometimes I can stretch it out to 20 mins but, that is really a chore. I do get full on my portion just can't take so long to eat. I haven't gotten sick on anything YET...(knock on wood, praise the Lord) ...except milk 3rd day post-op (which I don't really count). I do have to say I'm sometimes eating my meals on the go..usually lunch which may be some cheese and fruit. The plate warmer thing is a GREAT idea! I have a candle warmer I purchased from Wally World (around 4.00) that would probably work just fine. I always focus on eating my protein first but, then my veggies are ice cold.

I had surgery on January 11 and I have the exact same problem. I don't feel that I eat too fast, but within 20 to 30 minutes (or sooner) after eating, I'm getting sick. I think I've just gotten used to eating cold food ... pitiful huh! LOL I make myself mad when I get sick ... I say to myself ... when will I learn to eat slower!!

Thank you all for your response, it feels great knowing I'm not alone! The cup warmer idea is great, I think I have one around here some where.... Take care!

Only 1 oz in an hour? Wow! I eat 2 or 3 ounces at a sitting. I usually take about 15-20 minutes. One scrambled egg with cheese, and a breakfast sausage I can seperate into 15 small bites. That's about 1 bite per minute. If my food starts getting cold, it's not appealing anymore and then I know it's time to stop eating. If I only ate 1 oz per hour, I'd literally be eating all day long!
