I Can't Take It!
Anyone else feeling really down? I have only lost 2 lb.s in the last 3 weeks. I have lost a total of 42 lb.s but only 13 of that is post op. I went to the Dr yesterday and the PA said "why do you think you havn't lost anymore?". I told him I have no idea! The nut told me to get in 50 gm.s of protien and 64 oz. of fluid which I am doing. He said "well I have had about 4 other people experience this and they were constipated. I don't feel that is my case, I am going every day. The trainer that I met with yesterday said maybe I need more protien. I feel so scared I will be the one this didn't work for and then I will live the rest of my life not eating what I want for nothing!!!! I havn't been exercising regularly and am going to, but if that is the reason what good is the surgery. I mean if I am only eating 700 cals a day and don't loose on that without exercise then I just don't think I can take it. I feel like I am sacraficing and working my butt off but for why?
There I said it, now I feel a little better! Thanks for listening to me vent!

Leeanne,
Have you been losing inches? Maybe your body is just "readjusting/rearranging". I think it was Tiffany who said the second and third month are when we should be noticing the most changes (if it wasn't Tiffany, then forgive me!).
You lost 42lbs altogether, so 13 post-surgery. You were on a special diet of some sort prior to surgery? I would think your body needs to just adjust to that amount of weight loss.
I think the weight WILL come off! We just have to keep pressing onwards. You vent all you want though! I can tell you that I have had the same feelings. Many of us probably have...so you are among those who understand.
Now come 'ere...

I know where you are coming from we had surgery on the same day and I've lost 22 pounds and it kills me when folks say I've lost 40 pounds! I figure I'm surely eating less than I was so this all has to come together at some point. What I've read is others will not lose for weeks and all of the sudden they will start having huge losses - lets pray this is us!
I'm staying positive and knowing this process WILL WORK we just have to be patient. See I'm so pathetic that I would just like to wake up one morning skinny - but I realize this is a journey and I didn't gain it over night and I surely wont be losing it that way either. So hang in there and STAY POSITIVE!!!

I can totally relate, I'm coming up to week 4 and I have been at 22lbs since about 10 days out! Most of that was fluid I know. I am just keeping up what I'm doing and I know it will work. I also need to step up the exercise. It seems we've all been sick- me, hubby, child. You are not alone, keep doing what you are doing and the weight will come off.
You have to move to loose in any program. No one can just sit back and see the pounds fall of, yes it is work, and we all new that coming into this. The surgery is the tool, and if we don't use what we learned than the tool will not work. My doctor made that clear to everyone he does surgery on, if you think you have to do nothing and just have the surgery, than you need to reconsider having it, because it is not the magic bullet everyone thinks it is. It takes work and dedication to the retraining of your eating habits and exercising. Sorry for not saying what you want to hear, but we have to keep moving. I know why my weight loss has slowed is because I have slowed, and I am starting to move now and even feel better.
Good luck,
Hugs,
Lynda
13lbs. in 2 weeks is very good. I am down only 28 lbs. in 7 weeks. The last 4 was over the last 3 weeks. It is now slowly starting to go again. The scale is moving a half pound or quarter pound a day now.
You need to play with the calories I think. Some people will loose under 1000 calories a day and others wont. Maybe your body is acting bad to your 700 a day and you need a few more. Make sure you add protein only calories. See if upping your protien to around 70g a day helps. But the big thing will be exercizing. Take measurements before you start and look at those. I know I have lost almost 5 inch. in my stomach, and more in other places, more than what I would think 28lbs. would show. I also didn't take measurements till 3 weeks after surgery, and I know I was already smaller then.
Try different things. Change the foods you eat, if you are able. Remember to eat protein first. I really only get protein in. Meats or cheeses first and then don't usually have room for other things. Also, take a look at your lb. loss and see what percentage of weight you have lost. I have lost over 10% of my starting weight and 25% of the total weight Ihave to loose. That helps also.
Hope some of this helps.
yes, Chele quoted me right, repeating the words from my psychotherapist who specializes in WLS. I am losing a lot of inches and that keeps my spirits high because that means I am getting smaller!
I am trying not to be frustrated. Every day I look in the mirror and see a better body than the day before so that keeps me going and I only weigh in once a week on Sundays (Ok, sometimes I sneak a peak on Wednesdays).
