I Can't Take It!

From what I've seen, almost all of us experience some sort of stall in the first few weeks. I know I felt the same way you do - "Will I be the only one this doesn't work for?!" when I saw people lose really, really big in the beginning. For me, I lost 19 lbs in my first two weeks and then nothing for about another two and a half weeks. I am now at 7 weeks (this coming Monday) and I am at 41.5 pounds, which I think is really good progress!! I have seen posts from those who lost big the first month who experienced stalls in the second month and then get disappointed. We are all different and our bodies will react differently to the surgery. Don't worry! Just keep getting in your protein, fluids and vitamins, and consider what you want to do for exercise. I too have not been very good at all on the exercise front, so I just recently joined the Y and signed a contract with myself that I would go at least three times a week. So far, so good - this week at least. Hang in there!!!

Leeanne, Please e-mail me your email addy. First- we had surgery on the same day. Second- I lost 30 lbs the first 12 days. In the past 2 1/2 weeks (close to 3 weeks like you) I have lost nothing. I would love for you and I to keep in touch so we can update on when this plateau finally breaks. I need to measure again on Monday as that will be our 1 month anniversary. I will also be starting next week, and am hoping that this may rush the end of the plateau. Good luck and I hope to hear from you. Oh- And I am walking 1 mile each day along with the activity at work. I think that we are both on the right track. Even if we are moving this is part of the game. Beth M ([email protected])

Ditto on what Chele said. You lost so much preop that your post op weight is real weight; no****er weight like much of mine has been post op. Your body is definately adjusting to your huge loss! You are doing great I think - I have to increase the exercise too. Sylvia RNY 1/23

Leeanne, I just had to put in my 2 cents. I have three co-workers that had surgery all within a month of each other. All four of us had the exact same problem. Great results first couple of weeks and then between 2-4 weeks we all started losing agian. SO I think it is so common. I always read about stalls on this board, but never really paid attention that it was pretty much right after that some people were experiencing them. They are right when they say take your measurments becasue my clothes were looser even with no weight loss. So chin up girl. It's all good. I finally dropped 5 stuborn pounds after a 3 1/2 week NADA on the scale. IT WILL COME! K 285/240/150 i'm a 1/3 of the way there.
