Cramps .... what can we take?

Hey everyone, happy weekend to all!! I have a question.... When I get PMS and cramps, I tend to get them pretty bad. I did before surgery and apparently same thing now. Trouble is that I used to take Advil or Aleve to alleviate some of the pain, but we can't take that now. What are you taking for pain? Thanks for your help everyone! ~amber~

Maybe your PCP can prescribe you a liquid Ibuprophen. That's funny that you mentioned your cramps though. Mine stopped when I was 19 but my first period since WLS, 7 years later, I had them again. Dawn

Cramps are really muscle spasms so how about heat? Ho****er bottle or heating pad. that's all that every worked for me. Pills never did anything but made me gag anyway Good luck. Ronna

Hi Amber, I have endometrosis and have really bad cramps. I went to my OBGYN before surgery and discussed my options. As you know, no Motrin, Aleve, Ibuprofen or any NSAIDS after surgery because of the risk of ulcers. She gave me a script for Vicodin (a narcotic with tylenol), I split them in half and it works pretty okay. I used to live on Motrin, so this was a little scarey for me. If Vicodin is too strong they have a lot of other stuff out there, just most of it you need a script for. Before you see your doctor the only thing you can take is Tylenol and try a heating pad or a hot shower too! Good luck and hope this helps! Christie

Hi PixieGirl Amber: I just had to call my primary and they discussed this with me. The head pharmacy clerk states the best thing for me being 27 days out would be children's tylenol 3 tablespoons no more then 4 to 5 times a day. They come in different flavors: BUBBLE GUM, VERY BERRY STRAWBERRY, GRAPE, CHERRY......The very berry strawberry is good. The medicine is very thick. But it works. Suzan Gabin
