Is it too early to have low B12?

I've been very, very tired this week, more so than usual. I can hardly keep my eyes open and at work all I do is yawn. I take the B12 strips maybe 3 out of the 7 days of the week. I don't know why but those are the only thing I have a hard time remembering to take! I'm wondering if maybe I should start B12 shots or is it too early in the game to have low B12? Thanks Christina

This is something you should ask your doctor but mine told me I could take the B12 sublingual seems to work fine. Take care and rest when you can. Deborah

Hi Christina, I agree with Deborah, you should ask your doc. My doctor told me it can take months before we become deficient in any vitamins. Hope you feel better! Dawn

Are you taking your other vitamins? You need those, too. Good luck and God bless. Hugs, Lynda

Its not too early for low anything according to my surgeon. Look for foods wtih more B12 - multi grain cereals, veggies, and soy milk. Have you had your BP checked?

My doctor said that we usually have B-12 reserves that should last us about a year, so having low levels early on is not a problem. If you are tired, you may not be getting in your liquids- dehydration can cause tiredness, and is a very common problem with us early post-ops. Try to drink more H2O and see it that helps!

Christina, Good question. I have been as exhausted as you. I keep waiting for this wonderful, so-called "surge of energy". Chele

You can have low levels before surgery. Get to your doctor so you can get labs done to find out what's up.
