MEDICAL ID BRACELET

I got one from Lauren's Hope (there's a link on the bariatriceating.com site). I used the language from the little card my surgeon gave me (which I assume was supposed to go in my wallet). It says: RNY Gastric Bypass No NG Tube w/out calling xxx-xxx-xxxx Fluid capacity 30cc Limit NSAIDS There's actually a little "less than" sign before the 30cc, but apparently that is something the message board doesn't like and the rest of this post didn't show when it was in. So, I took it out so everything else would show, but it is on my bracelet. I will probably make some additional bracelets to go attach to the alert part so I can change it out. I wear it on the same hand as my beaded mother's bracelet, so no one even knows I'm wearing it (I wear the alert part under my wrist). It just looks like I'm wearing another beaded bracelet. I thought it was really important to have this and since I wasn't confident a paramedic would look to find something in my wallet, I thought this was a much better way to go. Lisa S.

I ordered my ID Bracelet from MedicAlert and the advantage to doing that is that they keep your medical information in a database which is available 24/7. You fill out a form online and answer questions about your medical condition which they keep on file. If you were to be picked up by a paramedic or taken to a hospital emergency room, the doctor can call MedicAlert and give them your id number (which is engraved on your bracelet along with a short general message about your condition), and receive more detailed medical information from MedicAlert. They keep your info in their database and you can update it if it ever changes. It is more than just a piece of jewelry you wear, and the price is around $30.
