Lisa's Six Week Check-up/in

I saw my surgeon for my 6 week check-up last Wednesday and things are great. He released me to all foods as tolerated and any exercise I want. He said to continue with the high protein and to make good choices. I have lost a total of 37 pounds and about 18 inches overall. I did have to finally make an appointment to see my regular doc for some antidepressants, though. The mood swings and general irritability have been horrible. I know they said that this was a common thing for women who have had the WLS, I figured I wasn't going to suffer with it (and make my family suffer by proxy). So I have a brand new script for Wellbutrin, which I began on Saturday. The doc said that it was short acting, so I should be able to tell a difference in a few days and I should only need it for a few months until things stabilize. I feel as though I have been so very blessed by having this surgery. On a side note - another great big blessing is that we bought the house we have been renting for a while, signed the papers on Friday! Woo!

Congrats on the good check up! I am sure the meds will help you through. Don't feel bad about needing them. You are NOT the only one! Congrats as well on the house. Leeanne

Hi Lisa You are doing so great! Congrats on the weight loss and on the house. I know the "happy pills" will help. I use them myself Regards and hugs, Ronna

Congrats on buying a house Lisa that is great. Don't worry about the happy medicine I've been taking them for 8 years and couldn't do it alone. Carly

I HAD to go in and speak with someone about the massive mood swings and irritability. I had the absolute WORST day I can remember in years last Wednesday and my poor, wonderful husband -- as he was holding me while I wrapped it all up by crying -- said, "Lisa, we know why you're like this -- and I understand -- but it's getting rough." LOL -- I knew right then that I had to do something until the majority of it passed over the next few months. And thanks to everyone who wished us congrats on the house. I'm so excited. This is the first time in years I've owned a home of my own. I'm already breaking the bank planning the changes and renovations. LOL.
